Christmas Tomorrow

Hello everyone.

I am heading out the door, but just thought I would post real quick. We are having Christmas with Josh's family tomorrow. There will be around 20 to 25 people over. I am cooking the whole meal. I will give you some details later on just what that is, but to keep you guessing, here's a start: prime rib, roasted red parsley potatoes, and so many desserts!

I will be back!

It Was A Wonderful Weekend

Good morning.

Yes, it's a good morning. I have been off of work since Wednesday. I had a wonderful time at my parents' house. The kid was spoiled rotten.

I am looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I can thank the Meloncutter for that. Thanks for bringing me back.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I did!

I am going to get my hair done today and take advantage of the sales out there. I would like to purchase a double boiler to steam vegetables. I hope I can find a good one.

Later!

Hope you are all surviving out there! It's going to be an awesome Christmas this year! Way better than last year! Hooray!

Talk at you all later.

Good Morning!

Hi Everyone! Long time no post!

Everything is going well here. It's holiday time so that means I am BUSY< BUSY< BUSY!!!!!! I won't get a break until the Sunday after Thanksgiving. That means I am working on the holiday. Gotta love grocery retail!

The kid is doing great! Sort of. He has been getting into some trouble at school. I am hoping it was just acting out with the custody issues and that it is behind us now.

I had an awesome time in Kansas City with my brother. Josh came up and went to the Chiefs game with my brother. I came home on Saturday because I had to work on Sunday. That's okay, I didn't want to see them lose anyway.

We are doing Thanksgiving with Josh's family on Thursday and Thanksgiving dinner with my family on the Sunday after the holiday. I am cooking for both. Yes, it's a lot to do, but I love doing it!

Well, got lots to do today! Have a great one!

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Hey!

This blog has started to take a back seat. Sorry everyone! I haven't been by your blogs to visit, there is just so much going on. Please keep coming by. I am sure I will be back in the swing of things before long.

Smashing Good Time!

Halloween was smashing good! The kid and I stayed home and passed out candy while Josh went to the hockey game. We had about 30 treaters last night. We are a house that makes those goodie bags, stuffing them with candy. I made 40 bags out of 12 bags of candy. It was so much fun! The kid also raked the leaves out front. We will have to do this two more times, since we have so many maple trees.

I am heading into work now, so hope you all have a great day!

Update

Good morning. Sorry I have not posted. The whole custody thing is not over yet. They decided not to do the hearing. We are now going through a case worker which is really good for me. I have not met this case worker yet, but we should find out more this week.

Thank you so much for your prayers, positive thoughts and well wishes. I could not have made it through without all of the support. I am truly blessed to have such great friends. Thank you.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Wow! You have all been so great! Thanks for the support. I will check in tomorrow to let you know how it goes. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

I have a major stress headache. It's all because of this custody hearing. Why does it have to be so difficult. My poor kid. I feel so bad for him! I am off until Friday. Got to get my head together. Thursday can't come fast enough.

Monday, October 20, 2008

Big Week Ahead!

Good morning! It's a big week for all of us here. The hearing for our custody case is this Thursday. I am so very scared. I hope it all turns out okay. Did I mention I am very scared?

This weekend went by fast. Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I went to work, got my hair done, went shopping for cleaning supplies, went to the Asian food store, cleaned the bathroom, cooked dinner, and pretty much just chilled out. Oh, I did do two loads of laundry. Yeah, pretty uneventful.

Well, I am off to work. I have two conference calls today. Joy.

Talk to you all later...

Lots To Do Today!

Good morning! It's a great day off.... sort of. I did go in and help a store earlier this morning. Now I am at home, but it's going to be a full day. We need to get the kid's hair cut, go to All Star Adventures so I can beat him at a game of mini golf. Then we have to go shopping for our tailgating event at the opening night of Thunder hockey. The hockey game should be a good one tonight. It may be the only one I go to this year.

Well, I better get going. Lots to do today!

Friday, October 17, 2008

Good morning. Yay! It's Friday. That means I am off tomorrow! Can't wait! I have the kid, so we are planning to spend lots of time together! I can't wait!

Well, gotta get going to work. Have an awesome day!

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Whew!

I've been working lots, so I am really tired. This is going to be a very quick post. Work is going well. I am forever kept busy. Holidays are coming and this will be the busiest time of year for us. Lots to do, that's for sure.

Hope you are all doing well. Have an awesome weekend if I don't get back right away!

Brrr!

Good morning. It is a chilly 47 degrees as I sit here and eat my hot bowl of cream of wheat. It has been raining for two days straight. I love this weather. Call me crazy, but I love it.

Work is going well. Yesterday was our weekly Monday conference call, which took us almost two hours. Then, I had lunch with Josh. We went to Cinnamon's Deli. They have the best soup bowls there. I always get a half sandwich with a cup of soup. Yumm-O!

After lunch I headed over to one of my smaller stores. This store has shown great sales increases and is doing a fantastic job in my departments! Business is good for them. After that store visit I had to head over to the west side for a zone meeting with my boss. There is usually five of us, but only two of us were able to attend. It lasted almost three hours! I headed home after that.

The weather was very cool yesterday, so I decided to make some comfort food for dinner. I made homemade mac and beef with shredded mozzarella cheese baked on top. We also had yummy pieces of garlic bread to dip it up with. Very good comfort food.

I watched Heroes and Chuck last night. Both shows are awesome.

Well, gotta get to work. Have a great day!

Here's To Monday!

Good morning! Well, it's back to the swing of things for me. I am pretty much back 100%. Lots to get done this week, as usual.

Yesterday was great. I got to spend some quality time with my mom. I was also able to see my nephew. He's two. I am sure I have mentioned him. Anyway, I bought him four new Halloween books. The kid loves it when you read to him. I also got him a 600 sticker activity book. Boy, did he really like that one. He's such a little cutie!

Anyway, I just thought I would do a quick recap. The week is going to be extremely busy, so I may not post every day. No loss, I am sure.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Here's to Monday!

Running Late

I am eating a quick bowl of cream of wheat with butter and brown sugar before I head to work. I am running really late this morning. We have a refrigeration problem at one of the stores, so they need extra help.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I am heading to my parents' house this evening and will return tomorrow evening. Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Happy Hump Day!

Hi there! I am home from work already. I am definitely taking it easy this week. I can't believe how tired I get so soon. It's to be expected though from being off for almost a month.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. After I picked the kid up from school, we headed down to pick up his tux shirt. Then we headed over and picked up his black pants from home. After munching down on a quick dinner at our favorite Chinese place, we went to the school for the kid's fall vocal concert. They were really good. I am so proud of him. I am taking a cake up to his school tomorrow to congratulate him and his class for a job well done. 55 students in one class. Wow!

After the concert last night, we headed to Cold Stone Creamery and indulged in sweet goodness. Once I got home, I was pooped! I stayed up to watch my shows and then headed to bed around midnight.

Today, I dropped the kid at school, did two store visits, went to our district office and turned in some paperwork, and picked the kid up from school. Now I am here.

I am waiting for Josh to get home so I can start dinner. We are having fajitas tonight. Yumm-O!

Hope you had a great Hump Day!

Welcome Back To Work

Dinner is almost ready. We are eating a little later than usual. What's for dinner? Well, we are having rosemary baked chicken thighs, garlic mashed red potatoes, and steamed broccoli with a touch of butter sauce. Definitely a comfort meal. It's been raining all day, so it just seemed right to cook a meal like this. We are just waiting for the chicken to brown in the oven.

Work was decent today. In no way did I outdo myself. I totally took it easy and only worked until about 2 pm. I still need to read about 50 emails or so and go over some more paperwork. I don't plan on going all out until after the first week. Baby steps.

I did two store visits today, listened to a conference call for an hour and a half, talked to HR about a personnel issue, took notes on some holiday merchandising I want to do for a store next week, and pretty much got back in touch with a couple of management people I haven't seen in a month.

I then came home, watched the shows I Dvr'd last night, prepped dinner, started cooking dinner, and now I am here waiting for dinner to get done. The kid should be home soon from visiting his dad. I can't wait. I made him some roasted almond caramel bars yesterday. Ooh, they are so good.

Well, I better get dinner served up for the family. Hope you all survived Monday.

First Day Back

I'm getting ready to head out the door. First day back at work. Wish me luck!

People Can Be SO Irritating!

Blah, blah, blah... that is what I hear coming out of some people's mouths. I hate it when people act so self righteous. Whatever...

Anyway, just wanted to update you on my insomnia situation. It got worse last night thanks to the neighbors across the street. They were playing loud music outside from 1:20 am to 5:30 this morning. I called the police FOUR times and no one ever came out. When I finally got a hold of someone at one of the substations, I asked why no one responded to our call. The answer? Because I did not wish to be called back. Yeah, can you believe that?

I finally got a call from a 911 person this morning at 6:30 saying that if there was still a disturbance, to let them know. I laughed and told them the damage had been done. None of the people on my block got any sleep and 4 potential drunk drivers made their way home early this morning on the busy Wichita streets. So much for our wonderful Wichita Police Department. Hope no one was seriously injured by one of these drunk drivers. We have enough sadness in the city right now with the drunk driver who killed that mother and her daughter.

Josh is watching the Chiefs game and I am just wasting time until we go to visit his mom. The roast and fixings are in the crock pot, smelling absolutely wonderful.

Enjoy your Sunday.

The Everyday Mumbo Jumbo

Well, I got the same kind of sleep as I did the night before. 2 to 10. I think once I get back to work, it will get better. I have decided to go back on Monday instead of Tuesday. I have so much to catch up on.

Last night was good. We had dinner at Johnny Carino's. I always get the same thing - tilapia with angel hair pasta and their delicious potato soup. They have the best potato soup I have ever tasted. After leaving the restaurant with our to-go leftovers and dessert, we headed over to visit Josh's mom. She is in a rehabilitation hospital for her leg. She broke her knee a couple of months ago and just recently had surgery. It was great to see her. We are going back tomorrow and bringing a dinner plate for her. I am making one of her favorites tomorrow which is a roast with potatoes, carrots and onions. It will slow cook for most of the day and should be just delicious by the time we get ready to take it to her.

The weather is finally starting to become more predictable. The hot edge in the temperature is gone. The wind is breezier and the smells of fall are around the corner. We are anticipating a lot of raking again this year with the big maple tree we have in our front yard. As the tree starts to change color, I will post pictures for all of you to see.

Well, enough rambling. I have enough laundry to keep me busy until dinner time. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

What To Do Today

Well, I got about 8 hours of sleep, but it was from 2 to 10 am. Not what I am wanting to achieve. I am sure when I go back to work on Tuesday, everything will fall back into line.

I am waiting for my coffee to brew. I haven't had any coffee in weeks! My body went through a great cleansing period. I just wish I could sleep better.

I am not sure what I want to get done today. I think Josh and I are going out for dinner this evening. We have not gone out to dinner for almost a month. It will be nice. Not sure where we will go, maybe Johnny Carinos or some other Italian place.

Well, hope you all have a great weekend!

Randomness

Hey everyone. I can't believe we are almost done with another week. I can't seem to sleep at night for some reason. I just toss and turn. I am hoping since I only got 5 hours of sleep last night, I will be able to get a couple more hours tonight. My mind is just racing when I go to bed. I have been off of my pain meds for almost a week and I am not on any other medicine. Not sure what is going on there.

Anyway, the day started out good. Took the kid to school this morning, came home and ate some toast, watched a little t.v. and worked on some things. Right now I am waiting for Josh to get home from work. I think we are going to make homemade pizzas tonight. I got the inspiration from Cheryl.

The kid is in his room doing homework. He goes to his dad's this evening for the weekend. I can't wait for this court date to come and go. I am getting very anxious about it. It may be the reason for the lack of sleep. Not sure.

Well, I better get to it. Have a great evening!

Another Day

Today was pretty uneventful. Let's see. I woke up around 9 am, which is normally very late for me, but since my surgery, I can't sleep at night and wake up later in the morning. I had breakfast, watched my television shows that I dvr'd the night before, and browsed through my recipes to see what I would cook for dinner.

The kid had an orthodontist appointment at 3 pm, which only took about 20 minutes. After the ortho appointment, we headed to the store for some olives, Parmesan Reggiano cheese and some garlic cloves. Then we headed home. I made oven fried chicken breasts coated with Italian breadcrumbs and served it with a pasta made of olive oil, toasted bread crumbs, kalamata and green sicilian olives, freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano and chopped flat leaf parsley. Yeah, I kicked ass on dinner this evening. It only took an hour to make. Not bad.

So, now I am trying to catch up on all of my favorite blogs. I have not been by to see many of you, but plan to catch up soon. Hope you all had a great hump day.

Where Is It?

I hate it when I can't find something. In our downstairs rec room, there are a bunch of boxes that were never unpacked when I moved in with Josh. I can't seem to find two of my favorite cookbooks. Ugh!

Anyway, I am waiting for my baby bell peppers to cool. I am making mini stuffed bell peppers tonight. The bell peppers came from my parents' garden. It should be a great dinner.

Well, I need to get started on the filling for these delicious peppers. Hope you are all having a great day.

Monday, September 29, 2008

Good morning. I am here listening to a conference call at home. I have several things to accomplish today. I have three loads of laundry to do, I have to get some major grocery shopping done today, and I have to catch up on all my work mail.

Doesn't sound very exciting, but oh well.

I will check in later this evening. Have a great Monday!

I Can't Sleep

I can't sleep.

It's been exactly two weeks since I last posted. I apologize for worrying any of you. I needed the time off. I am still off from work until October 7. It was a pretty major surgery, but everything is fine. I do want to thank everyone for their comments and concerns. I really appreciate it! It's nice to know so many of you continue to care.

I can't sleep.

I think I have insomnia. I have not been able to sleep for a week now. I usually don't doze off until around 2 am. It sucks.

I have lots of time on my hands and I have to take it easy. So, I have been vegging out at home and at my parents' house. I am feeling much better, but I am limited on what I can do. No lifting of more than 8 pounds. Kind of sucks.

I have not kept up with everyone the past two weeks, and I don't think I will be able to go that far back with all of you to catch up with your lives. So, I will start fresh Monday afternoon. I have a small list of things I would like to accomplish tomorrow, so this will be one of them. Well, until then, I will try and get some sleep.

I'm So Hungry!

My tummy hurts. It's because of tomorrow. I haven't eaten anything since 8:00 this morning. Part of the requirements for tomorrow. The kid just cooked a homemade cheese pizza. Rotten! Rotten I tell you!

Okay, enough about my stomach and food. I am off to read blogs.

Fantastic Weekend

Yes, the flooding was happening the opposite direction of where we were headed on Friday. We did see lots of flooding on our way to Kansas City. We were near lots of tornadic weather and torrential downpour.

It was a great weekend! We arrived in Kansas City around 6:30 and checked in to our hotel. We met my brother at Dave and Busters and had dinner. We watched the kid play all of these games to obtain as many tickets as possible. When he was done, he bought Josh a little Chiefs memento. After dinner we grabbed some ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery and headed back to our hotel in the rain.

On Saturday we went to the City Market and walked around for about an hour. The kid bought some zucchini bread from a local vendor and Josh bought some local salsa. After walking around and wishing we lived there, we headed to the Corner Cafe and ate a delicious breakfast. When we decided to waddle out of the cafe, we decided to go grab some groceries for the big game. I made homemade potato salad and pasta salad and Josh marinated the steaks. We spent the day at Josh's brother's loft. It is located downtown near the City Market. It's very nice!

After a long day, we headed back to the hotel to turn in. We woke up around 5:45 on Sunday morning to get packed up and head down to the stadium. We are the crazy ones who wait in line for a good parking space. We were about the sixth car back in our lane. Crazy, I know. After the gates opened, we got the grill going. One of our local friends decided to join us. He works for the Chiefs taking tickets and decided to stop by and eat before he headed in. The stadium is under major construction, so walking in was a b*tch. It took forever!

Anyway, to make a long story short, we lost. Ohio State also lost this weekend. It was a bad weekend for football. That's okay. I got to spend some much needed time with my boys before my surgery tomorrow. I am getting a little anxious. I am sure all will turn out just fine.

Well, I am going to enjoy the time I have off. I am planning to do lots of housework and laundry today, so I won't have to worry about it later in the week. I plan on reading blogs all day as well.

Have a great week and I will check in with all of you later.

Flooding Fun Weekend

Good morning. It's been raining for days and Cowskin Creek is flooding. I tried going to the west side today, but after seeing the creek already up to the bridge, um, no thank you. I am staying close to home today. I will just do some stuff from my computer. I am only working half a day and we are suppose to head to Kansas City this afternoon for the weekend! I am prepared to sit in the rain for the Chiefs game against the Raiders. Ugh.

We need to get packed, along with the grill and the food. Thank goodness we will have a kitchen in our suite. WooHoo! I have a place to make the potato salad and marinate the steaks for Sunday. The kid will be hanging out with my brother on Sunday during the game, so I am sure he will have fun with his uncle.

Okay, so I need to get going. Gotta follow the agenda, you know? I will holler at all of you on Sunday evening to catch you up on the weekend fun.

What's Up With This Vice Principal?

Good morning. I am wasting time before my appointment this morning. After my lab work, I have to drive to Hutch today for a meeting and to conduct some interviews. woohoo.... just so thrilled (spare me).

The kid got into some trouble at school last Friday. I guess he and another kid were taunting each other back and forth and the other kid ended up punching my kid in the back. Instead of retaliating, my kid said something to the teacher. The other kid was suspended from school and my kid had a day of ISS. He spent his day of ISS yesterday, with no phone call or note sent to the parent. When I finally got a hold of the vice-principal after school, she informed me that she had planned to call me last Friday, but after she got into her office, she just wasn't up to making any phone calls and decided to wait until after school on Monday. Seriously? Of course, I let her know that was absolutely not okay with me. I also told her this was part of the reason the system just doesn't work. If she would have done her job and notified me on Friday, I would not have been as worried and pissed off yesterday when I called. The fact that she told me she didn't want to make anymore phone calls on Friday because she wanted to get out of there put me over the top mad! So, I guess it's okay to wait and call the parents AFTER your child has spent his day in In School Suspension. The Wichita Public School System SUCKS!

I guess I should become a vice-principal so I can pick and choose my tasks for the day, and if I just don't feel like doing something, it can wait until after the weekend.

Okay, enough venting. I'll catch up with you later...

Busy Week Ahead

Hey there. It's a start to another week. Lots going on this week for me. Today consists of another long, conference call. Tomorrow I have to get some blood work done for my surgery the following week, and then I have to travel to Hutch to conduct some interviews. On Wednesday, I have to go back to Hutch to finish conducting interviews. Thursday I have to rearrange a department and do some holiday merchandising. On Friday, it's a half day as we will be heading out of town to Kansas City for the weekend. We will be going to the Chiefs game on Sunday. It is their home opener against the their biggest rival, the Oakland Raiders.

So, lots going on. I will fill you in on how the blood work goes tomorrow. I am sure it will be fine. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Rearranging The Bedroom

Good morning. I am getting ready to leave for my hair appointment. Josh has just informed me he will be moving things around in our bedroom while I am gone. Great, I think. He wants a different lay out in our room. I have two new night stands to put in there, so I guess I will have a surprise when I get home.

Since the Chiefs are playing today, I think we may have a snack night. They play at noon, but there will be other games on. I would love to make some home made panini sandwiches. Yumm-O!

Well, I need to get around here so I can head out. I'll catch up with all of you later.

Dinner With A Possible Attitude

Hey there! Just finishing up with dinner. This evening I made cheese raviolis with meat sauce and garlic bread. It was great!

Another average work day. I woke up and took a shower, then headed to the west side of town to do some store visits. The first store I went to was behind schedule. I went in to do some plan-o-grams for one of my department tables. The next store I went to was the department who needed the plan-o-grams. We are going to implement them on Thursday. I stayed at this store and did some paperwork and talked to the store manager about what to do with our chef. After lunch, I headed to my last store. We have some personnel issues with this store and I was told that they had some visits from some suits the day before. It wasn't a good visit for them.

As I was leaving, the kid was calling me with his grocery list. I feel like his personal assistant some days. I can't wait for him to start driving, responsibly I might add. Anyway, I filled up one of my reusable bags and headed for the house.

Did I mention today was just wonderful? It was rainy and cool all day. I should have lived in Seattle. I could live like this every day. It's the perfect weather for me. Not hot, but cool and mild. Wonderful weather!

This evening will consist of Josh watching football all night while I surf the web and the kid catches up on all his cartoons/shows. I have tomorrow off and Josh starts vacation. I do have a hair appointment at 11 am tomorrow, so at least I will be gone when the Chiefs kick off. I hate being around at home when the Chiefs are losing. Josh gets such an attitude problem. It never fails, around football season, the house gets tense.

Well, I guess I better get going. The kid is testing my nerves. Later...

Quickie Before Dinner - uh, yeah... not what you're thinking!

Wow, two posts in one day. Who would have thought? Anyway, I am just wasting time until dinner is ready. It should be ready in about 15 more minutes. Tonight we are having baked chicken thighs seasoned with garlic, salt and black pepper. We are also having my famous garlic mashed potatoes and steamed carrots. It should be a good dinner.

Today was a pretty boring day. I went through some paperwork at home, watched all of the shows I DVR'd, picked the kid up from school, came home and took a nap, and then started on dinner. Oh! And I made breakfast this morning. We had French toast and bacon. The kid had milk and Josh and I had our coffee. I woke up at six this morning so I could make breakfast for my boys. I didn't even have to be at work today.

Well, I better get dinner going. We always eat so late. I know it's not good for us, but sometimes you have to sacrifice time to be all together for dinner. I cherish these evenings. Later...

It Started Off As A Cheerful Post

Good morning! I am off today. WooHoo!!!

It's nice and cool today and it should get up to only 74 degrees. Lovely weather. We had a great dinner last night. I love fresh vegetables, especially grilled. Yumm-O!!!

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately.... about life. Life can really suck sometimes. Life can be overwhelming when you think too much about it. I can see how some people literally go crazy.

I think about my parents a lot. It's scary to know that one day, they won't be here. I don't think they are scared to die, but I do think they are afraid to leave their children and grandchildren. I know from being a mother myself, the hardest part about dying is knowing you will be leaving your children behind. I cry now just thinking about it.

As children, we dread the day our parents pass. The pain is unbearable, to the point of breaking a person. I don't know what I will do without my parents. They are reaching close to 55 and 57, almost 60 soon. There are now times where they talk about friends and acquaintances who have died. It's scary. It's scary because I know how much pain people go through. If I was single with no children or siblings, my wish would be to die before my parents. That way I wouldn't have to feel the pain. How selfish am I? I know that sounds bad, but I don't know how I could bear it.

Oh goodness! Such a sad post now. I guess they can't all be peaches and cream.

To my dear friend Jamie,

I am so sorry you are going through this now. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your strength is admirable and inspirational. I wish you lived closer. I would give you a hug.

Thursday, September 04, 2008

We grilled again for dinner. It was really good! The kid is home, got home yesterday. I am so glad! Dishes are in the dishwasher, and all is great with the world.

I went to the gym last night and walked on the treadmill. Nothing exciting.

It's a beautiful evening. What are your plans?

Missing The Kid

Hey! I am already home from work. Glad that's over with.

I am really missing my kid right now. He has been at his dad's house for five days now. Ugh! I have holidays when I don't get to spend time with him. Oh well. He'll be home tomorrow evening. I just can't wait.

There was a bit of a storm this afternoon, but the temperature is still around 75 degrees. I can't wait for the low 60's and 50's to get here. Great cooking weather. I love to cook!

I don't have a whole lot to say. I am probably going to head to the YMCA around 6:30 and work out a bit. I will talk at you all later...

Dinner Was Too Fabulous For Pictures

It was a pretty productive day. Long, but short. Does that even make any sense. The day seemed long, but it was short. Yay, that makes sense to me.

We grilled tonight. I meant to take pictures of our plates, but completely forgot when the smell of char grilled rib steaks permeated into the dining room from the hot grill outside. I also made parsley fingerling potatoes with grated Spanish Manchego cheese on top, steamed broccoli spears and fresh grilled corn on the cob. Oh yes, it was very delicious.

After finishing all of my veggies and half of my steak, I knew I would need to hit the gym soon. I think I may go the YMCA tomorrow after work to exercise. Cheryl always inspires me with her swimming laps, but I never end up getting off my rear and doing it. I won't be swimming, but maybe a quick workout on the treadmill and elliptical machine wouldn't hurt these flabby thighs.

Hope you all had a great Monday. I am headed to bed. It's going to be an early day tomorrow.
Good morning. I am off to another day of work. Not a long day though, thank goodness.

I made Josh kill a huge spider the other night. I think it was a brown recluse. Scary! Those things can be anywhere! Gives me the shivers just thinking about it. Okay, enough about that.

So, hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I will post more later this evening.

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Wow... thank you so much for the support! I know I will need more as time gets closer. I am counting down the days.

I am working all weekend. Hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend with those you love.

Surgery?

Well, I have some bad news. Sort of...

I have to have surgery. I don't want to go into any details, as I am very private with certain things in my life, but I need to have surgery.

It is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16. I am a little scared. The doctor told me I would not be able to return to work for two weeks. He is obviously a little crazy, or I am a little crazy. Two weeks? We shall see.

Just thought you might want to know.

Is It Friday Yet?

Well, today feels more like a Friday. Maybe it's because I have the day off and I have done absolutely nothing. I am just waiting for the kid to get home and then I have a doctor's appointment at 4:30. So, I just thought I would check in real quick.

How is your week going? It's going by so fast!

Monday, Monday

Hello! Just checking in before I hit the hay. Long day tomorrow. We have some visitors from Michigan coming, so it will be a long day. I am anxious to work with them.

Today proved to be another one of those Mondays we all love to hate. Why is it that the most trying of days has to be Monday? Why? Why do people all of a sudden get stupid and annoying on a Monday? Yes, I am being mean, but my goodness!

First, it all starts off with my inability to remember the simplest of things - like laundering the kid's gym clothes last night while I was actually doing the laundry. Duh! Then I had to have Josh drop the gym clothes off at the school after they were dry.

Second, this morning, I casually check over the kid's algebra homework and it was done lazily. He didn't write out all of the algebraic equations properly. And by golly, I am a stickler for using the words sum, difference, product, and quotient! So on the way to school, he is correcting his homework. Halfway there, I notice he did not brush his teeth. Aargh! How much were those precious braces framing your beautiful, soon to be straight teeth? Yes... can you feel my pain?

Third, I had to sit through a 2 and 1/2 hour conference call this morning, putting me behind an hour. Lovely....

Fourth, I get to my second store and it is tore up from the floor up. The department was completely unorganized, with remnants of inventory being counted, but nothing put back. Looks like I am going to have to resort to making this department schedule out again.

Fifth, one of my tables got sent back to the warehouse by my lovely director. No communication... gotta love that.

I will spare you the rest as all of this happened before lunch. With that, I am going to hit the shower and it's off to bed for this one. Too much for one day.

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Hey there. We got into town around 7:30 this evening. We had a great time at my parents' house. I was able to see my nephew for a couple of hours. He is getting really big. My sister couldn't believe how tall the kid was. I think he has grown 2 inches since she has seen him.

I am just playing around on the computer while doing a couple of loads of laundry. I need to refill my ice tea...

Okay, that's better!

Well, it is back to the daily grind tomorrow. We have a couple of meetings this week. I have to work with some people from Michigan. They are arriving into town on Tuesday afternoon. I am suppose to work with my counterpart from that area in our new store. They are getting a similar store and their VP used to be our VP. So, he is sending them our way. I will work with them until Thursday.

Okay, so I am off to check on all of you. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Heartburn

Good morning. I am waiting for my coffee to brew and I am heading to work in a bit.

We had a good day yesterday. I made mac and beef and we also played some cards last night. It was a fun time. The kid and I are going out to my parents' house this evening and will stay until tomorrow afternoon. My mom is missing us pretty bad and my dad will be home for a couple of days from driving.

I have heartburn this morning from the food I made last night. I added sauteed onions, garlic and mushrooms to my mac and beef, so it seems I may have to pay for that today.

Well, I will check in with all of you later. Have a great day!

Meme From Annabel

Okay, so I got this meme from Annabel, who got it from Mama Llama. I loved it so I decided to do it.

A. Attached or single? I am attached to Josh (real name) and he is 5 years younger than I am.

B. Best friend? Well, I used to have a male best friend (WRH), but we haven't really spoke since he started seeing his girlfriend. I would have to say that my co-worker from Omaha (Debbie) is my best friend. I talk to her every day.

C. Cake or pie? Hmmm... this one is tough. I would have to say cake. My favorite cake is strawberry.

D. Day of choice? Any day I can have a day off, but if I could choose, I would say Sunday. Most family get-togethers and holidays are on Sunday.

E. Essential item? My cell phone. I could not live without it.

F. Favorite color? Yellow, of course.

G. Gummy bears or worm? Gummy bears for sure. They remind me of my childhood.

H. Hometown? Great Bend, KS

I. Indulgence? Olive oil from O&Co. in NYC.

J. January or July? January for sure. I love cold weather over hot.

K. Kids? Of course - the kid is now 13 going on 14.

L. Life isn't complete without? Family

M. Marriage date? I am not sure on this one. Josh and I have talked about marriage, but I am definitely not in any rush.

N. Number of brothers and sisters? One brother - 28 years old, and one sister - 33 years old.

O. Oranges or apples? Apples for sure when I was younger, but now I would say oranges.

P. Phobias? Yes, lots of them. Fear of death, heights, spiders, any kind of bugs, clowns, and drowning.

Q. Quotes? 'Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.' Gandhi

R. Reasons to smile? The kid, Josh, my family, my friends, my very good life. I am lucky.

S. Season of choice? Autumn

T. Tag Seven Peeps! Lois, Leann, Terri, Becky, Jenni, Sally, and Cheryl - only if you want to. No pressure!

U. Unknown fact about me? This one is hard. Let's see... I bite my fingernails. Horrid habit.

V. Vegetable? This is another hard one since I like all vegetables. Um, can I say my mom's kimchi? It's mostly made of cabbage.

W. Worst habits? Aha, I should have put nail biting here. Another would be interrupting people when they talk. I am getting better at this one though.

X. X-ray or ultrasound? It doesn't matter to me as long as either one does it's job.

Y. Your favorite food? My mom's Korean food.

Z. Zodiac sign? PISCES!!!! But I am really not a believer in such things.

Well, there you go. More info on yours truly. If you like this meme, please be sure to do it and let me know. I would love to read your answers. If not, no worries.

Yay!

Yay! It's a day off for me. I had so many flippin' meetings to go to and present at this week, it was unreal! I am so glad it's over!

I plan on reading the other blogs today and I am writing my very first Foodie Feedback on a restaurant at my other blog. This new blog is set to private at the moment. I don't like saying that I am doing a food critic blog, but I do like the word feedback. It's not so negative.

Well, lots to do today. Hope everyone is preparing for a fantastic weekend!

Bah! It's going to be another one of those weeks.

Must. have. vacation!!!!

Wish I Could Be Like David Kim

Sunday, a day of rest. Well, maybe if you don't work retail. I have to be in Hutch by 11 am this morning. I am only working until 6 pm though. It should be a fairly easy day.

I have several loads of laundry staring at me in the face this morning. It's all from the big president's meeting we had last week. You want to talk about some hard work. Whew! Working 14 hour days is not my favorite thing to do. This is the reason why I didn't post. I was just too dang tired!

As I sit here eating my cream of wheat and drinking my coffee, I realize I have such a boring life. It's filled with too much work. I need to get out more. I wish I could be more like my blogging friend David Kim. He and his wife Sarah travel to many local places and visit. I love tuning into his blog to see where he is going or where he has been riding his bike. Very interesting guy. You should check his blog out. Go here, for the fun-loving Korean guy who loves to cycle and loves BMW. Tell him I sent you!

Okay, I better get going this morning. I have to drop some supplies off to some store before I head over to Hutch. Have a great Sunday!

Average Day Waiting For The KC Chiefs

Today was a totally average day. It's good to have average days, don't you think? I headed for work around 8 this morning, hit a couple of stores, then had lunch with the kid. The afternoon proved to be the same stuff as usual.

I am in need of a serious vacation, but I don't want to take one until the whole custody issue is resolved. That won't be until late October. I am taking a weekend off in September to go to the opening day of the Kansas City Chiefs. They are hosting the Oakland Raiders and this game is always a big one. We have season tickets, but won't be attending all of the games. If anyone is interested in buying any tickets, let me know. We have already sold the Broncos game, but the others are still available.

Well, I am finally going to catch up with every one's blog. Should be a good evening.

Later...

Friday, August 15, 2008

I am seriously behind in posting and reading every one's blog. Please accept my apologies. There has just been so much going on at work. Hope you are all having a grand weekend.

Josh and I are looking at a quick trip to Vegas in late October. 4 nights should do it.

Later...

Monday, August 11, 2008

Sorry for not posting. We have a huge president convention going on. Lots of stress and work. I will catch up with you later.

A Day Off Already?

Good morning. It's a day off already. We have lots to do today. The kid has a sport's physical and we need to go clothes shopping for school. School starts on August 14. We are really excited! This is the last year of junior high for the kid before he starts high school.

It's soooo hot here! We are under a heat advisory. It will start to get a little cooler around Thursday, which only means high 80's instead of 100 degree weather. I am totally looking forward to that. It's just so hot!

Well, I need to get around here. I will catch up with all of you later.

Best Damn Weekend Ever!

** warning**
Lengthy post ahead, not what you are used to from me...

Hey there. I had a wonderful time in Omaha, home of Warren Buffet. I even saw what area of the city he lives in. I arrived around 6:30 pm, but would have arrived sooner had it not been for the 30 minutes I spent on Highway 80 dead center in the middle of nowhere, with traffic at a complete standstill. I think I was about 35 miles outside of Lincoln. All of the construction caused the major delay. Those cars without full tanks of gas were nervous, I'm sure.

Anyway, I rolled into Omaha and checked in to the Residence Inn on Dodge. It was a nice room. I met up with my friends for dinner at Lo Sole Mio. It is a beautiful authentic Italian restaurant. This restaurant had unexpected large portions of food that looked so wonderful and mouthwatering. The service was impeccable. We started off with the Calamari Fritti and Beef Ravioli. We also had fresh sliced baguette bread with several offers for condiments and a house salad. I ordered the Orange Roughy with angel hair pasta. The Florentine cream sauce was rich and light at the same time and the lovely glazed carrots complimented the fish and pasta so well. I must say the portion was absolutely huge. I could only eat about three bites of fish and pasta and had to take the rest back to my hotel room. But, we also ordered dessert. I had the homemade bread pudding. Oh lord have mercy, it was simply divine!

We all decided at dinner we needed to quit our jobs and become world travelled authors and food critics. We talked of Anthony Bourdain and his dislike of Abba, Samantha Brown and her easy, easy job, and Andrew Zimmern's stomach-of-steel-lacking-compassion for the wonderful food he does try. Oh yes, if only the Travel Channel needed someone else. That job would be for me.

Saturday promised to be a fantastic day. It started off with a breakfast at the Hollywood diner in the Old Market. Not bad for diner food. The sausage was delicious. We then headed over to the Farmer's Market and found a true treasure. I purchased some jalapeno and cheese wieners and kraut stuffed sausage from Chlupacek's. I was told it was a 5th generation recipe. It was made fresh and put in casing the night before. I do love fresh sausage. I plan on cooking the kraut sausage tomorrow. We also purchased two pies, candy from the candy store, and looked around at several of the shops.

On our way back, we stopped at Whole Foods and the Cheesecake Factory for the rest of our groceries for the evening meal. You see, my friends were having a soul food dinner party. I bought some fresh baguette bread, manchego cheese, Fromage de Meaux, Boursin garlic and herb spread and some quince paste. I had to bring a little taste of Europe to the dinner party. I was quickly put to work on deveining the collard greens and giving them a two bath soak. My friends prepared BBQ pork steaks, collard greens with smoked turkey legs, homemade smothered sweet potatoes, and pan corn bread with a touch of vanilla.

sigh.......

It was so good. I can't even lie. Next to my mom's food, it was the best food I have ever tasted. After dinner, we sampled 5 different types of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, a fresh strawberry pie and pecan pie from the Farmer's Market. We couldn't move from our seats.

Sunday morning we decided to have a late brunch at Le Peeps. This is my favorite place to go for breakfast. After brunch, I went to check out Hobbytown USA. I purchased about $100 worth of stuff for the kid and his train set. Money well spent. After that, I headed back to Wichita.

The weekend was much needed and I had such a wonderful time making memories with my friends. We had good food, good conversations, lots of laughs and relaxation. It was a damn near perfect weekend.

Way Too Early!

Agh! I can't believe I am up this early doing a post. I am waiting for my pants in the dryer. I have to be at work by 5:30, so I thought I would do a quick post this morning. I feel like Jamie this morning! I wonder if I will get this post up before hers? She always has a post first thing in the morning. I know one thing is for sure, I can't type today.

Well, I have a walk-thru today, meeting tomorrow, and Friday I am off to Omaha for the weekend. I can't wait to get out of town.

I'll try posting more later...

Saturday, July 26, 2008

Morning. Thought I would do a quick post before I dash off to work. Last night was great. I cooked comfort food: baked chicken tenders, garlic mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and slices of garlic bread. It was really good to sit down at the table again.

Lots to do today, but I should be able to get it all done fairly early if I hustle. I'll try and check in later...

What Have We Been Up To?

It has been such a busy week. Wednesday was a big day at work. We had lots of cleaning, organizing, and setting up to do on the new side of the store. Yesterday, we went to a different store and merchandised them for a zone walk-thru for next Wednesday. We started at 5:30 am and were done by 3 pm. It was an exhausting day.

When I got home from work yesterday, I took an hour nap. The kid came up with an idea to have "Fun Night" once a week. On this particular night, we pick something fun to do as a family. So, it started off with having breakfast for dinner. We had biscuits, bacon and scrambled eggs. After dinner, we baked chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies. We also played Phase 10 and Texas Hold'Em. It was a great night of competitive fun with milk and cookies.

I have today off. We got up around 8 and ate a small breakfast. We left the house around 10 so I could go by the bank. We headed to HobbyTown USA where the kid picked up some more stuff for his train set. After that, we headed over to our favorite Chinese place for lunch. Now we are home and I can get caught up on blogging and emails.

Well, I have filled you in on what has happened since my last post. It doesn't even feel like the time has passed by so quickly. Anyway, catch you later...

I'm So Tired!

I am pretty tired this morning. It was a long day yesterday. We are doing another store remodel. I get so sick of doing these. We are on the south side of town now.

Anyway, I am thinking about dinner and a movie tonight with friends, but I haven't really decided.

Well, gotta get going. Have an awesome day!

Dinner - Hold On To Your Bellies

Well, I certainly outdid myself this evening. The pork rested on the cutting board for 20 minutes after slow cooking for 5 1/2 hours. I shredded the pork with two forks and it fell apart to the touch. I emptied the crock pot of all juices and fat and added the BBQ sauce. I added the pork back in and let it simmer for another half hour.

The coleslaw was prepared and was rather wetter than usual. That's okay. The beans were heated up and the meal was about complete. I got out the Sara Lee corn meal dusted kaiser buns and heaped it with the mouthwatering succulent pork. The smell was incredible. Then, a heaping spoon of baked beans and coleslaw hit the deck. One bite of that sandwich sent me to hog heaven, literally! The coleslaw was a little runny, but that's okay because the juice was sopped up by the bread on the sandwich. The smoky flavor of the beans mixed with the crunchiness of the slaw played a wonderful melody of tastes and flavors in my mouth.

Yes, it was such a good meal. Who's the best mommy in the whole world?

Thank You

It never fails. I know if I am having a bad day, I have all of you to cheer me up. THANK YOU for all of the comments and kind words. It helps get through it all.

I'm just working a couple of hours today. I am making pulled pork, so the pork just got seasoned. It will go into the crock pot around noon. I like cooking my pork in the crock pot because it makes the meat so juicy and tender. I am also going to make homemade Cole slaw and we are having baked beans from a local restaurant. They put pieces of brisket in their beans and they are so yummy!

Well, I better get to my work stuff so I can get to my home stuff. Have a great Sunday!

Saturday, July 19, 2008

It was an exhausting day, even though I didn't do a whole lot. Lots of emotions. Just one of those days when you reflect on your life and question the whys. Ever have those days?

Well, it's a half day tomorrow. I am getting caught up with blogs tonight. Have a great night!
What's up people? Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! I have lots to do today, so I won't have much time on the computer. Have a good one!

Friday, July 18, 2008

Good morning. Not much going on this morning. I am getting ready for work. We have another store project we are working on. Lovely. This one is going to be very nice. Well, I hear my coffee calling. Catch you all later today...

A Day At the Zoo

Hey everyone. I am home on my lunch break, so I thought I would do a quick post. Yesterday was such a great day. We went out for brunch and enjoyed some delicious pancakes and sausage. I was able to enjoy a couple of great cups of coffee. After brunch, we headed to the Zoo. It was so much fun! We ended up doing the walk from end to beginning. We went to each "country" and enjoyed watching the wild life. My favorite exhibit is the gorilla exhibit, especially when the gorillas are inside playing. Yesterday was a treat because the gorillas were extra playful and we were in air conditioning! It was one hot mamma yesterday!

We walked throughout the zoo and ended up at the penguin exhibit just in time for them to feed. It was sooo cool! The penguin exhibit is one we haven't seen yet, so it was nice to watch them swimming around and waddling to get there food.

I took my camera, but found out that the battery was dead. I was only able to snap a few shots, but I won't be posting them. I just don't feel comfortable showing pictures of my kid on the Internet. Yes, I am a weirdo protective mother.

Anyway, after the visit to the zoo, we headed home to relax. I took a nap while Josh and the kid played a video game and cards. We decided not to cook dinner and went to Old Chicago to grab a pizza. After that, we went for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery.

It was such a great day. I was able to hang out with my boys and relax. Today, it's back to the daily grind. I won't have another day off until Tuesday. Well, I better get back at it. Later...

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Day Off

Good morning. Josh and I have the day off together. We are spending some down time with the kid today. Not sure what we are going to do, but it should be good whatever we decide.

I have been watching Big Brother 10. This season is already getting crazy. I have a feeling the manipulation is going to be the worst yet.

Josh says hello to everyone. Oh wait, never mind, he doesn't want to say hello. He now says he's just kidding. He wants to know why I am writing it all down. Can't help myself dude!

I think we might try and go to the zoo today. Anyway, I better get around here. Catch you all later today.

Arby's Was the Chef's Choice

To make it easy on us this evening, I picked up some Arby's Beef N' Cheddars. Yumm-O! They hit the spot.

Well, I am off to watch Big Brother. Have a great evening!
I've got an hour for lunch, then it's another meeting from noon to 4 pm. That one is going to hurt. I hope I can sit still that long.

We are having leftover spaghetti for lunch. Not sure what I am cooking tonight for dinner. Any ideas out there for me?

Monday, July 14, 2008

I hate eating dinner late, but I just got home from work about an hour a go. I made spaghetti with meat sauce and we are waiting for the crescent rolls to get done. It was a quick and easy meal and will fill up the kid and Josh's tummies.

After dinner, I plan to watch my shows I recorded on DVR and read blogs. I have a meeting at 7 am, so I may not have a chance to post in the morning. I might be able to sneak one in at lunch.

Hope you had a great Monday.

When I Grow Up

I got a little "homework" last night from my good blogging friend, Norrbu. I am to write about what I want to do when "I grow up".

When I grow up, I want to be able to travel Europe, particularly the countries of Italy, Greece, Germany, Sweden and Spain. I also want to travel to some of the Asian countries of Korea, Japan, and Thailand. And while I am on the subject, New Zealand and Canada are on the list as well. What shall I do while traveling? Well, I want to learn about the food and cultures. Maybe not go as hard core as Anthony Bourdain, but close to it.

When I grow up, I want to have a nice vegetable and flower garden. One thing I remembered as a child were the beautiful flower gardens my grandfather had every year. The vegetable garden was one to remember, as it was usually half an acre. He would have fresh Ohio sweet corn, tomatoes, okra, snap beans, peppers of all kinds, peas, potatoes, all squashes, cantaloupe, and the list goes on and on. When my grandfather died, I knew I wanted to continue what he had done all of his life.

When I grow up, I want to be happy. I want there to be a good roof over my head, my family healthy and safe, my friends full of life.

I can't wait to grow up.

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Dinner tonight consists of smothered fried pork chops with homemade gravy over steamed rice with a side of green beans. I am waiting for the rice to rest, then it will be dinner time. I have some homework to do tonight, thanks to my friend Norrbu. I will update later this evening.

It's A Half Day

Good morning. It's going to be a short day at work, as it's Sunday. Usually if I work on Sunday, it's only for about six hours.

Dinner was great last night. I am needing a cup of coffee this morning though. I am really tired! I didn't get to bed until midnight. I stayed up watching Intervention. I like watching shows like that. I also like Deadliest Catch. I was watching some of the earliest reruns of that as well, when it was called Deadliest Season.

Well, I better get going. Hope you all have a restful Sunday.

Dinner At 6:30

I am munching on a pre-dinner appetizer of Spanish Manchego cheese with quince paste. Yumm-O! I am making oven fried chicken breasts, garlic mashed potatoes, and a vegetable medley saute. Another Yumm-O!

There is a slight cool front here and it is a mild 68 degrees out. It feels sooo nice! My kind of weather! I have always been the kind of girl who liked to live where it is cold. Kansas is about as hot as I like to get. I love the weather in the north-eastern states. Hard winters, warm summers, and the spring and fall are the best! You can actually see the seasons changing in those states.

The kid spent his time today at the YMCA. He really likes to go. It's better than being stuck at home. He has to go to his dad's house tonight. Bummer. I know he doesn't want to go, but he really doesn't have a choice. Poor guy. I will get him back on Monday evening. I can hardly wait!

Well, I better get the potatoes off the stove and start mashing. Dinner will be served in half an hour. Would you like to come over for dinner?

Slow Start

It's a rainy morning. I am off to a slow start today. Good thing I make out my own schedule. Did I tell you I won a new I-Pod Touch? Yep, I sure did. And I have no idea how to use it. I will need to sit down and read the directions.

I am in the mood to cook a nice dinner this evening. I haven't had much time to prepare a good meal lately.

Thanks to everyone on the nice comments yesterday. I really appreciate it so much. It gives a person a lift when they are feeling down, and I needed that. Thank you.

It's All About The Kid

Well, I just got home. Yes, it's very early, but I've got cramps. Girls, don't you just love having that excuse? I would, except, these are kind of painful today.

I found out that enrollment for school takes place the last week in July. I just received the kid's enrollment packet, so we can start getting school supplies as soon as they go on sale. I won't be shopping at the Evil Empire (wal-mart), but will a little of my school supply business to Target. I'll just buy whatever is insanely cheap on the sheet. The rest I will by at one of my stores.

We have decided to wait on the clothes. I think the kid will have another growth spurt before then. He has already grown an inch this summer. He is now 5 ft. 5 1/2 inches. Oh help me. The kid is only 13 and he is in a size 10 shoe. Long and lanky, but can eat like a horse. Where does it all go?

Anyway, the kid is actually wanting to shop for some of his own clothing. Before, it was whatever I wanted as long as it was blue or green. Now, the kid has an opinion. He has told me he would like two pairs of Nike's instead of one, this way he can just switch them for gym class? Does that make any sense? Whatever.... I am obviously out of the loop when it comes to teenage boy clothing and shoes. I mean, are we seeing an era where boys are just as particular about their shoes as girls are? Oh boy!

Okay, so two posts in one day. Well, consider yourselves lucky. I am going to catch a nap. Talk at you later.

Bachmann Train Set

Well, the school shopping didn't happen yesterday. Big surprise. We have plenty of time for it though. Instead, we wandered into a hobby store. The kid went nuts. He started talking about trains and tracks and what he wanted to get. We have never had a train set before, so I was surprised at his interest.

We searched and searched the boxes and the kid found what he was looking for. $200 later with a Bachmann train set in tow, we headed for home, anxious to open the box. It's a beautiful train set. It has two locomotives and some other cars. Of course, the kid told me this. I have been informed that all gifts for birthdays, Christmas, etc. must now include "extras" for this new hobby. I am excited for him.

I am up and at em a bit early today. Got to get some things done at work. I plan on calling it an early day though. Hope you all have a great Friday!

School Shopping Already?

The kid and I are going school shopping today for clothes. He needs more shorts and shirts. He could probably stand to grab a couple more jeans as well. It was his idea. He's growing up. There is also a girl he has been talking to this summer. It's not an everyday phone call, but maybe once every other week. Got to play it cool, you know.

Thanks for all of your kind words. Our move has been postponed due to a custody battle. We are in the middle of it now. Final hearing won't be until the end of October. I don't want to say anything more than that at this time.

Hope you all have a great day!

Looks like we won't be moving anytime soon. I just don't have the energy to talk about it, so please don't ask. It's been a really bad day.

Weekend Full of Food, Fun and Furniture

Good morning. I am getting a very late start to the work day. I am only going to work half a day.

We had a wonderful weekend at my parents' house. We arrived on Friday evening around 6:30, just in time to see my sister's fiance blow up my mom's new grill. The propane tank caught on fire. It worked fine before, but this time around, we didn't have much fun. So, we opted for the charcoal, which was just as good. Our neighbors across the street came over for dinner and to watch our neighborhood light up. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. I also made potato salad with green onions, cheese, and bacon. We had baked beans with shredded beef and deviled eggs.

On Saturday, we lounged around in the morning. My sister and my nephew came over for brunch. I made French toast, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. We ate pretty late, so we skipped lunch. Most of us were able to take naps. My brother, boyfriend, and the kid went shopping and bought a badminton set. We played for awhile and I had a lot of fun! It reminded me of when I was younger. For dinner that evening, we cooked beef tenderloin fillets for dinner. My mom couldn't get over how tender the meat was. She kept going on and on, which made Josh feel good. We had crock pot corn, mashed potatoes with onion gravy, leftover potato salad and baked beans. For dessert, we had cheesecake topped with fresh fruit.

Sunday was a day of rest. Boy, did I need it. I got up early to cook breakfast. We had biscuits, bacon, and fruit. Mom made Korean food for lunch. We sat around, watched t.v., and early afternoon started to get ready to leave. We brought Josh's truck because we had to haul back some new furniture from my parents' house. I plan on putting this furniture into the guest bedroom when we move. I was so tired that on the way home, I actually fell asleep. I never fall asleep in the passenger side of Josh's truck, because it is so uncomfortable. I was just tuckered out!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I am scheduled off Thursday, so I have to make a list this week of all the things I need to get done. Lots to do, lots to do!

Good morning. Getting ready to go into work. Catch up with you later.

I'm Back!

I have never gone this long without blogging. Sorry. I have just been so busy. We had our grand opening on Sunday. It's a holiday week, so no days off until July 5. In fact, this is my 20th day in a row with no day off. I work half a day on Friday and I am taking Saturday and Sunday off. We are going to my parents' house. Yay!

It looks like we won't be moving until early August. That's okay. As long as I get up there before school starts, I'm okay.

Well, I have to get going. I will catch up with everyone this evening. Have a good day!

Yes Austere, it is Monday already! Can you believe how time flies? Not much to report. Just the same old stuff. Boring really.

It is six pm and I have no idea what is for dinner. I just heard the recliner sink back, so I know Josh isn't cooking. What's a girl to do? I would rather read blogs. later...

Can A Girl Get A Break?

Morning. I am heading into work in a little. Lots to do today. We are getting ready to grand open one of the stores on the west side of the city. I can't wait for it to be done with so I can focus more on packing and moving.....

That was the boss just calling. Well, one of the bosses anyway. I better get a move on it! later...

A Day From Hell

I thought I would do a quick post before I head out today. Yesterday was a terrible day. It started off with breakfast and our server forgetting part of our order. Then the kid wanted to go the neighbor kid's house. The rule is that he is not allowed to go into any one's back yard. He has to stay up front where he is visible (yes, I am a protective mother). Anyway, he went into the kid's back yard for about 20 minutes to play around with the water hose. When he came back up front, he noticed someone had stolen his brand new bike. Argh! I was one unhappy mother! If the kid had just listened, he would not have left his bike unattended. I was furious. Not only was his bike gone, but he was soaking wet and had his brand new phone in his pocket! Fortunately, the phone was okay and did not receive any water damage.

We filed a police report, but we know the bike is long gone by now. The kid is grounded indefinitely for not listening to his mother. Yeah, I am a mean momma.

Well, after that whole situation, we were headed out to get something to eat. We all hopped in the car and I changed my mind about what I was wearing. I got out, went in to the house to change, came back out and realized I did not have my keys. Josh left his in the house as well. So, while we waited for 30 minutes for a locksmith to come, we were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I thought we were the ones who were suppose to be dining out? We tried to get into our house by ourselves, but we proudly had to admit, it was closed up tight. This kind of gave me a sense of relief.

After paying the nice couple $80 for 90 seconds of work, we got our keys and decided to go out to eat anyway. We had already lost over $300 that day, and felt we deserved it.

Whew!

Of Course

Of course it has been extremely busy! On Monday I had so many meetings. Yesterday the kid had an orthodontist appointment. I worked until eight last night, came home and cooked dinner, helped the kid bake cookies, and settled in for bed sometime around 10:30.

This morning I have already stopped into one store, gave the crew some direction, grabbed some breakfast with the kid, had a few words with management of the restaurant, left no tip for our waitress as she forgot part of our order and never came back to the table. Uh, yeah. No tip for you!

This afternoon will consist of more laundry, going through my old boxes, and perhaps hitting a couple of stores for summer clothes. It's still early.

Happy Father's Day!

When God Made Truckers

When the Lord was creating truck drivers, he was into his 6th day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the spec on this order?" A truck driver has to be able to drive 10-12 hours per day, through any type of weather, on any type of road, know the highway traffic laws of 48 states and 10 provinces, he has to be ready and able to unload 40,000 lbs of cargo after driving thru the night, sleep in areas of cities that the police refuse to patrol." He has to be able to live in his truck 24 hours a day 7 days a week for weeks on end, offer first aid and motorist assistance to his fellow travelers, meet just in time schedules, and still maintain an even and controlled composure when all around him appear to have gone mad." "He has to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half eaten meals; he has to have six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "six pair of hands....no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord. "It's the three pairs of eyes a driver has to have.

"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees the herd of deer in the thickets 3 miles away". "Another pair here in the side of his head for the blind spots that motorists love to hide in; and another pair of eyes that can look reassuringly at the bleeding victim of a drunk driver that crashed into his ICC bumper at 70MPH and say," "You'll be all right ma'am, when he knows it isn't so."

"Lord," said the angel, touching his sleeve, "rest and work tomorrow."

"I can't," said the Lord, "I already have a model that can drive 650 miles a day, without incident and can raise a family of five without ever seeing them, on 30 cents a mile."

The angel circled the model of the truck driver very slowly, "can't it think?" she asked.

"You bet," said the Lord. "It can tell you the elements of every HAZMAT load invented; recite Federal Motor Carrier Regulations rules and regs in his sleep; deliver, pickup, be a father, offer timely advice to strangers, search for missing children, defend a woman's or children's rights, get 8 hours of good rest on the street and raise a family of law respecting citizens, without ever going home....and still it keeps its sense of humor." "This driver also has a phenomenal personal control. He can deal with delivery and pickup created from scenes painted in hell,
coax a lumper to actually work for his money, comfort an accident victim's family, and then read in the daily paper how truck drivers are nothing more than killers on wheels and have no respect for the rights of others while using the nations highways.

"Finally", the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the driver. "There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model."

"That's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear."

"What's the tear for?" asked the angel.

"It's for bottled up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the flag, for justice, for the family without it's father."

"You're a genius," said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there."

without trucker drivers America would not move. I love you daddy!

What A FUN Day!

Well, I was right. It was a busy day. Spent time in only one store. There was a lot going on! I had to re-merchandise in three departments. I was also a cheerleader today in our grilling contest. It was a FUN busy day. I walked with the Pres. of the company. The VP called about an hour after he left, making sure everything was good. Duh! He was with me! lol...

Anyway, I picked up the kid on the way home, took a short nap, and got up to cook. We had flank steaks on the grill, baked potato, and grilled artisan bread. Yumm-O! After dinner we went to our local golf park and played miniature golf. It was fun! Josh and the kid were neck and neck while I wimped out and took score. Josh won over the kid by one measly point. Oh well.

Did you ever play the Slug Bug game when you were younger? We did that while in the car. I won with 5. WooHoo!

It was a great night. We are chilling at home, dishes are in the washer, Josh is in the washer (shower), the kid will be next, and we start all over again tomorrow. The kid will be going to dad's house to spend time with him on Father's Day.

Hope you are all having a grand weekend!

Bare Hands Grabbing the Buns! Oh My!

Good morning! Just checking in before I head out the door. Today will prove to be a busy day.

Yesterday we went to a driving range, where the kid and Josh hit a bucket of golf balls. The kid is pretty good. I know I can't do it. Then we went to Logan's Steakhouse. It's a copycat of Texas Roadhouse. The food is okay. I got a medium-rare rib eye, which didn't look like a rib eye, a baked sweet potato, and a salad. I also got some tea to wash it all down. Josh got the chicken fried steak and the kid got his usual cheeseburger plain with fries. We had seats that looked into their back prep room. This is also the area where they bake the rolls. I noticed my server using tongs, but two of the guys were grabbing rolls with their bare hands. Ew! I kept thinking about how they probably don't wash their hands after taking a leak in the bathroom, and it made me sick to my stomach. When our server came back, I pointed out to her how much I appreciated her using the tongs and commented how gross it was for the two guys not to. She then went back there and told them to start using tongs and notified a manager. Yuck!

After dinner, we dropped the kid off at his dad's house and headed over to Josh's sister's house. His mom is staying there for awhile. We all talked for about an hour and then we headed home. I did one more load of laundry last night, because I still have a ton to do. In fact, I have towels in the dryer right now as I sit here and type. As soon as they are done, I will fold and put them away, then head out to face the work world. Yes, it is going to be a busy day. Have a great one!

On the go! On the go! Go! Go! Go!

Busy work day!

A Day Off?

I am on my second load of laundry. About ten more to go. It's bedding day. I am washing all of the sheets, pillow cases, and comforters, along with a week's worth of dirty clothes and towels. Gotta love it.

The kid has already cleaned up the living room and his bedroom. He has loaded and unloaded the dishwasher and taken out the trash. Not bad.

I have a ton to do. I am sorting through lots of papers and boxes, throwing away what I don't need to take with us. I am hoping we will be able to move around the first week in August. Placing the kid in school may prove to be a bit challenging. School up there starts around August 18, so we will need to start looking right away.

Well, clean clothes are staring at me, waiting to be folded. Gotta go. Later.

I Gotta Go Get The Kid

Good morning. I only had to work a half day today. Thank goodness. I am going to pick up the kid today from the grandparents' house. I really miss him.

Yes, I got the job I wanted. This will mean a move sometime in July. We will live in an apartment for the first year we are there. After a year, we will look at buying a new house. We do have to sell the house we are in. It shouldn't be too hard. It's not a new house, so it should sell well under $100,000. The kid is going with me, but the dad is putting up a major fight. I will have to work with the legal system. Shouldn't be a problem. He will be able to visit his dad anytime he wants.

I am getting extremely excited, however, I have not really told any of my co-workers. My departments do not know either. I think everyone will start finding out this week. This sucks because I need to concentrate on getting a store grand opening ready and I definitely don't need the extra drama.

As we get closer to moving, I am sure blogging will not be a priority. So there's your warning if the posts start getting sparse. I apologize now.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I gotta go get the kid...

Great News!!!

Good morning! I have some wonderful news!

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!

That's right, I got the job. I also got everything I asked for. WooHoo!!! I am waiting for my offer letter to get here. My division will not make an announcement until I get my offer letter and I officially accept the position.

Cinci - Here I come!

I always knew I would be moving to a bigger city. I am so very happy right now. Thanks for all your kind words and positive comments. I appreciate it so much. It has helped the waiting part of this.

One of the VPs used to be my boss. She has inspired me so much. It's going to be so sad to leave, but so exciting to start something new. She told me she would back me up 100%, so I know I am going to be okay.

I also told my best friend last night. She works for our company and she seemed shocked. I have been keeping this from her for a long time. I know she would consider making a move as well. That would be nice to have her there with me.

Well, I am scheduled off today. I have a ton of stuff to do. I think a list of things to do needs to be the first thing I tackle today. Unfortunately, this list is going to keep growing and growing until it's time to leave. Later...

Lots Going On

Good morning. It has proven to be a busy week. Lots going on. Poker tonight, dinner with friends tomorrow night, going to get the kid on Friday. Lots going on.

Aggravated, Irritated, Just Plain Bitchy

My sister has a tendency to really irritate me sometimes. She can have such a nasty attitude about things. When we took her to dinner last night, it seemed as though nothing could be done good enough for her. She was rude to the waitstaff, rude in her comments about the restaurant of HER choice, and just plain bitchy. Yeah, yeah, I seem very irritated, but it just pisses me off. People are so ungrateful for what they have. Ugh!

Well, I made it back in good time. The kid is back with the grandparents anxiously waiting for grandpa to take him fishing. Boys. What do you do?

I guess one of my stores ran into some problems over the weekend. We have some assistants who have no business being in management. Oh well. Back to the grindstone tomorrow.

I should hear something this week about the interview. I have yet to tell my best friend. She is going to freak out if I get the position. It's making me a little nervous.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Off We Go Again

I hate flying. I really do. It makes me feel sick. I can't sleep on a plane, and if I read, I get nauseous. What's a girl to do?

The interview went extremely well. We visited stores on the second day. I am happy to know my stores look tons better. They told me I would hear something in a week. I think my chances are pretty good.

So, we are getting ready to leave again. We are going to my parents' house and the kid is staying there for a week. Tonight we are traveling an hour to go and eat at a Red Lobster for my sister's birthday. She already has such an attitude problem today, so this should prove to be interesting.

Looks like I will catch up with all of you when I return on Sunday. Hope you are having a fantastic week!

Wish Me Luck!

Well, I am getting ready to go to the weekly poker night at one of my co-worker's house. It will be a small group of five tonight. That's okay. I don't want to stay up too late because I have to be at the airport by 4:45 am. Waaaay too early for me. I won't be able to update until I return on Friday evening. Wish me luck on this interview!

Breakfast of Champions

I just made breakfast. Biscuits, sausage, and scrambled eggs with shredded cheese melted over it. Large cups of coffee and Walla! breakfast is complete!

I am heading out to do some clothes and shoe shopping. We are cooking a brisket in the oven today. It should be a tasty dinner.

Well, I'll update later.

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

What's A Girl To Do?

Well, the sun finally broke through today and now it is hot and muggy. Ugh! That's okay, because I am calling it a day! I have to work a half day tomorrow, and then I will get ready for my little trip.

I can't decide if I want to buy a new business suit, or if I should just wear one I currently have. I guess I will just make that decision when I am out window shopping tomorrow.

I am not looking forward to the flight. I hate flying. It makes me sick. But, it must be done in order to get there and do this. Oh well.

I need to get dinner ready. I am seasoning a brisket tonight for tomorrow's dinner. It will slow roast all day tomorrow. Yumm-O!

Later...

Rain, Rain, Go Away

BBQ and Life Lessons

Hope you are all having a great weekend. Mine has been filled with hot, humid days and thunderstorms at night. Whew!

I have not interviewed yet. The interview will be this Thursday. I am looking forward to it.

Josh's family had a BBQ today, but I decided to stay home out of the heat. I have been working all weekend, so I needed to take some time for myself. I came home and took a nap. Yep, my life is pretty boring. He did bring me a plate home. I had a hamburger, potato salad, and beans for dinner. I'm glad I didn't have to cook!

So, I just found out my brother and his girlfriend of seven years broke up. It's pretty sad. They started dating when she was 15, so my brother is the only guy she has ever been with. I guess she is at the stage in her life where she questions herself and where she stands in her life. My brother is pretty heartbroken, I am sure. He was going to propose to her this year. Oh well. At least it happened before they got married and had any children. It's painful, but time heals all wounds.

Well, I am going to blog surf for awhile. Later!

Saturday, May 24, 2008

Boom in the Night

I am home for a quick lunch, so I thought I would post. Last night we had one hell of a thunderstorm. I think it is the worst one I have encountered at night. It went on and on for what seemed like hours! And it was sooooo loud! I can only imagine what Phelan must be going through. Hope she made it out okay.

I'll be home for dinner, so I will catch up with all of you then. Later!

Friday, May 23, 2008

Cinci - Here I Come

I am so glad it's Friday! I have the day off. WooHoo! There is plenty to do today. The exterminator is coming to kill the nest of ants we found in the shed. I have about five loads of laundry to do. The living room needs a good cleaning. And the kitchen floor needs mopped. Along with all of this, I need to clean out my car.

Well, it looks like I have a job interview! I am going to Cinci on Thursday and will return Friday evening. I am kind of excited about it. My bosses aren't so happy. Oh well.

The kid is now on summer vacation. He slept in today until eight. I think he went to bed somewhere around one in the morning. I am putting that to a stop now. The kid will not be staying up all hours of the night and then sleeping all day. Not now, not until he is out of the house!

Okay, so I need to get going and catch up with all of you! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Meetings and More Meetings

Yesterday was the first day of meetings. It wasn't so bad. Today is the second round of meetings with store managers I don't really care for. hurray...

I have a dinner to go to this evening, so my weekly poker night with the guys won't be happening. All of the girls I work with think it's strange that I am the only girl who is invited to this weekly event. I explain it's mainly my other co-workers, and these girls really wouldn't want to be around all of that talk anyway. Vulgar mouths these boys have sometimes!

Well, I better finish getting ready. Later!

Monday, May 19, 2008

Day Off AND Dinner!

What a great day off yesterday! I really needed that. Didn't do any work around the house, except clean the downstairs rec room. I pretty much vegged in front of the television. I did go grocery shopping. It was fun. I let the kid get more snacks than usual, since there are only 4 more days of school left before summer vacation.

The kid made dinner last night! He made mini pepperoni pizzas on English muffins. They were actually really good. He just took the English muffins, sliced them in half, added three tablespoons of tomato sauce, a sprinkle of cheese and three pepperoni. Bake it for 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. Yumm-O!

I am getting ready for work..... just thought I would drop a note before I went in. I have neglected the blog for so long, so I want to get back into the groove of things.

Bird Poop

Good morning. Josh is attempting to make breakfast this morning. Holy Lord, I am scared. Anyway, it's a gorgeous day out so far. I have to do some major grocery shopping. I love grocery shopping on my day off. I can actually relax and take my time throughout the store, look for bargains and anything new I might want to try and cook. Love it!

We are going to slowly remodel the house. We have emptied the furniture from the spare bedroom. This is where the computer used to be. Now the computer is downstairs in the rec room with all of Josh's sports memorabilia. fun...

This week will prove to be a busy one again. I have a meeting on Tuesday from 10 to 4, a meeting on Wednesday from 10 to 3 with a dinner to follow, then another meeting on Thursday from 8 to 5. Ugh!!!! I loathe meetings, especially if they are unproductive.

I hate bird poop. Yesterday, I went out to my car and there was a ton of it on the windshield. It was bad enough that it impaired my vision while I drove to the nearest car wash. Yuck! I hate bird poop. Especially when it's different colors. Gross.

Okay, enough gibber jabber. I am off to read up what I have missed the last two weeks. Catch you all later this afternoon.

Blueberry Bagel and Imported Cheese

Good morning! I am enjoying a cup of coffee and a toasted blueberry bagel prepared by the kid. Yummy. I am only working a half day and will enjoy a day off tomorrow. I have planned to spend two hours catching up on blogging. I am so behind!

Some of you have asked about the job I am going after. It's almost the same thing I will be doing here, but there are more opportunities for advancement in Cinci. I am a total foodie and I love the area of cheeses and gourmet foods. I can learn more and do more in Cinci in this area. I am weird. I actually get a kick out of studying imported cheeses and different gourmet foods. I don't talk a lot about it on here, because that's not the type of blog I want to have. I guess I could start a second blog and have it be about food. But I know I can barely keep up with this one, let alone start another.

Well, I better get off this computer and get the work day started. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Is It Friday Already?

Hard to believe it is already Friday. This week was full of meetings and visits. Totally boring stuff to most of you. Today will be like the rest of the week. I have a bunch of paper work to get caught up on. Such mundane work for someone who loves excitement. Oh well. I do have a birthday party to attend this evening. Maybe I will make a showing there.

I have to be honest here and let you know I have not been updating myself with how all of you are doing. I promise to be a better friend and get caught up this weekend. I do apologize for my absence.

I have applied for a job in Cinci. I am waiting to hear back on an interview. Who knows.

Well, I better get headed out the door. Hope you all have a fantastic Friday.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Hope all of you will be able to celebrate this day.

Checking In

Good morning. It's been a busy, hectic week. My sister and her boyfriend have been in town. JJ had to have surgery on his stomach, so my sister has been by his side for most of the week in the hospital. Everything is good.

We celebrated Josh's birthday on Thursday. We had dinner with his parents at Red Beans Bayou Grill. They have pretty good food there. It was a nice evening. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were pretty uneventful. I just worked all weekend, preparing to move several departments in one of my stores.

I have put some thought into applying for another job. It is for the same company I work for now, but would require me to move. I am still mulling it over.

The kid only has three more weeks of school. We both can't wait.

So, here is the update of my boring life so far. I apologize for not commenting on your blogs. I have been silent lately, but promise to comment when I come by the next time.

Have a great Monday!

Bored

Oh my goodness. I am so bored. I tried taking a nap. I went through all of my mail. I did some laundry. Ugh. I am surfing the computer. Nothing to do.

Blogging is getting a little old. I am not sure why I have not been motivated to blog. It seems as though everyone has spring fever.

I don't even know what plans we have for this evening. Do I need a vacation?
Yay! It's a day off finally! I have a ton of laundry staring me in the face. Ugh... chores on your day off. Oh well. It shouldn't take long. I will check back in later.

Gardening - Help!

Good morning! I am looking out my window and our peach tree is in full bloom. I hope we can actually have some peaches this year. Last year we had ice, so no peaches. The year before we had squirrels, so no peaches that year either. I have been told if I buy some fake snakes and put them around the base of the tree, the squirrels will probably stay clear. Anyone else have any ideas?

I am getting my 4x4 boxes ready. They need to be weeded and more soil needs to be added. I am doing my tomato plants in a different area this year. Last year they did not get enough sun. I couldn't get my zucchini plants to produce anything. Not sure what I was doing wrong there. The only thing that produced decent were the cherry tomatoes. My peppers wouldn't even produce much.

Perhaps I will see better results this year. I am going to investigate a bit and experiment with different plants this time around. Maybe I will have better luck. Any suggestions?

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Agh!

It's getting harder and harder to update these days. I know I should spend more time doing so, but I have so much going on. I have not read up on my favorite blogs in three days. Lots of catching up to do.

I have to work today and tomorrow, so hopefully I can find some time this weekend. Have a great one!

I Love Spring!

Good morning! The weather is perfect today! Nice and cool with the sun just peeking out behind some clouds. Soft dew on the tender shoots of new baby grass. Oh! I just love this time of year. Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons.

I haven't done ABC Wednesday in awhile. I need to get some more pictures taken. So, I am taking my camera with me today. Maybe I will see some interesting things in my small part of the world.

We are probably going to our weekly poker night. I don't know if I have ever mentioned this before, but every Wednesday, Josh and I play poker with a small group of friends. T H is my favorite.

Okay, so I need to get ready for work. I will catch you all later!

ABC Wednesday

N is for NYC. Here are some pictures from our trip in October 2007. I think about the city all of the time. I can't wait to revisit.

Update

Good morning lads and lasses. Sorry for not updating. I went to my parents' house this weekend with the kid. We had a lot of fun.

Back to work as usual today. Not a whole lot going on. It's been a boring spring so far. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Ah, thank goodness that is over. I had 10 hours worth of meetings to attend yesterday. I am so glad it's done.

Today will be a short day and then tomorrow should be good! Hope you are all having a great week!

Is It Monday Already?

Good morning. I trust you had a great weekend. Mine was way too short. Yesterday we had problems with refrigeration at a store, so I got to spend most of my morning pulling product that was damaged. It didn't help that a call from my boss woke me up at 6:30 on a Sunday morning. Of course, he didn't show up until we were done. At least he showed up, right?

Today will prove to be an interesting day. I have a walk-thru on Wednesday. It should go pretty smoothly. Conference call this morning. I will probably be on that for at least two hours. Ugh....

Well, I am off to visit your blogs before I have to get out there and do some actual work. Have a great day!

Dinner With Goldfish

I've got dinner going. Nothing special this evening. Meatloaf, creamy garlic potato mash, steamed broccoli spears, and crescent rolls. It's simple and done within 30 minutes. Gotta love that Rachel Ray!

Today was a pretty good day at work. I went to my first store to promote a new manager. That was fun. She will do a fantastic job, but I have noticed she tends to doubt herself at times. I then went to another store to pick up some keys to let me into an old store. We needed to get in there to get some supplies out before we decide to sell it. Then I went to another store to drop off some supplies and headed for home. There were some sprinkles here and there today, but it has been extremely windy. The Kansas wind is something to be reckoned with. I have seen it turn over 18-wheelers like they were rag dolls. Yep, it's crazy tornado season once again.

I have a co-worker who is a storm chaser. Crazy ass is what he is. He loves chasing storms! He even has one of those little satellites on the side of his house with like this mini Doppler radar system going. It's some pretty high tech stuff. whatever...

Josh took the kid to the fish store and purchased some things for the new tank. The kid kept it pretty basic. I figured he would deck it out in Sponge Bob, but he kept it pretty low key. The tank now has blue rocks, a log with some foliage, and three goldfish. I love watching the fish swim around. It's quite relaxing.

Okay, so I am off to tend to dinner and I plan on catching up on more blogs this evening. Hope you all had a great Saturday!

Lethargic

I don't know if it's spring fever or if I have just been plain lazy, but I have not felt the urge to blog much. Have any of you been experiencing this feeling? Anyway, to make it worse, I have just been feeling so lethargic lately. I took a nap today. I was just so tired. I have a cough that is kicking my ass and I took my cough syrup that contains codeine. It makes you drowsy. It works.

So, today was cleaning day. The kitchen was cleaned and so was the kid's room. We got a new bed so he now has our old one. He has graduated from a twin to a queen size. Josh and I got a king size pillow top. aaaah....

We also hooked up the kid's fish tank. We need to get some rocks, greenery and, of course, some fish. I am not sure what kind, but the kid is a huge fan of SpongeBob SquarePants. We shall see what he comes up with.

It's back to the daily grind of work tomorrow. I know I probably talk about that more than anything, but I can't help it. It's boring, but it's what I do. Well, I need to tend to the carrot cake I have in the oven. Hope you all have a grand weekend!
I am off today and it is the day for some major spring cleaning. The house is tore up! It will get back into shape before too long. Talk at all of you later.

Good morning. I only have time for a quick post here. It's been crazy this week! Congrats to Josh's team - Kansas University, for winning the tournament. Thank goodness.

Well, I will catch you all later.

Stuffy and Runny

Good morning! I am stuffy and runny today. One nostril continues to leak while the other is stuffed up. Allergies? Sinus? Who knows. I am also coughing up crud. yum.

We are heading to Kansas City today. Every year we go to the first home game of the Royals. They are playing the Yankees, so tickets went fast. There are about 30 of us who meet up every year. The game usually starts around 3, but we go around 8 in the morning. We will cook breakfast and then get started on the steaks around noon. It's a lot of fun, however, this year they are expecting rain. Me and rain don't have a very good relationship. I need to find my umbrella before we leave.

We will be at Minsky's tonight for the big KU game. OMG, I hope they win! It would be crazy if they did!

Well, I will check in on Wednesday. Hope you all have a good week. If you get a chance to stop by Midwest Girl, please do so. She just had a baby boy! Tell her I sent you! Congrats Sally!
