KU Wins!

Yesterday was a little hectic. I visited two stores, one was in good shape, the other not so. I am going back to follow up with the not so good store this morning. Unfortunately, I am dealing with some people who just don't get it.

I went to my hair appointment for my touch-up on color and I also got a very small trim. I purchased more shampoo while waiting to pay. I use Biolage. It's pretty good stuff, I guess.

On the way home, I decided I didn't want to cook, so I went to Subway and bought two foot long subs for $5 each. While I was there, Josh called me from work and asked me to make sure the t.v. was not on a channel where he would know the score of the KU/Davidson game. Yeah, sure thing weirdo.

I got home, checked the score of the game, and turned it to Flavor of Love. I know he would appreciate coming home to that (not.). Anyway, when he got home, we started watching the recorded game. It was about 20 minutes ahead of us. When I checked the score, KU was losing and down by 5. I was preparing myself for this part of the game while we watched. It came and went. Josh actually threw a couple of napkins at the t.v. because of all the turnovers KU had. But in the end, we won. This is the first time four #1 teams have ever made it to the Final Four. Hooray!

I ate half the sub last night and put the other half in the frig. I snacked on chips and cheese dip while watching Big Brother. It was a very uneventful night.

My parents are coming into town today. My dad is having some minor surgery done. They are staying for two nights. I got them a room at the Marriott Courtyard. The rooms seemed pretty nice. I am stopping by today before they arrive to put some fresh flowers, bottled water, and fresh fruit in their room. Just a little something for them.

Well, I am off to drop off the kid's track shoes. He forgot them yesterday when he left for his dad's house. Little Booger.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Mickey Mouse and a HairDo!

Morning. Yesterday was good day. Work was so-so. Josh and I went to Red Robin to eat dinner with some friends and celebrate a birthday. DJ's birthday was on Easter Sunday, so he had a get-together last night. I have never eaten at Red Robin before, so it was interesting. They have all you can eat steak fries. I am not a french fry person, so I watched all of the guys wolfing them down. I was the only girl there, which is not unusual, as most of my friends are male. What sucks about this is I never have any girlfriends to go shopping with or hang out with.

So anyway, this restaurant is known for it's burgers. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I guess I am not big on burgers either. The wait staff came around with balloons and an ice cream sundae for our friend. They made him wear the balloons tied under his chin. I totally forgot my camera, and I wish you could have seen him. He looked like Mickey Mouse.

I had some strange dreams last night. I dreamed about WH, my so-called best friend. He is the one who stopped talking to me on a regular basis after he started dating his girlfriend. Anyway, his birthday is coming up and maybe that is why I dreamed about him. He was working at Lowe's and was getting ready for some grand opening. He wouldn't talk to me or the group of people touring his store. It was the strangest dream. It's like I wanted him to see me, but then again, I didn't. Oh well.

I am anxiously waiting for my coffee to finish brewing. I slept in until 8 this morning - only working a half day. Why?

Because I am getting my hair done! WooHoo! Of course, I always wish I could fly Cheryl down here to do my hair, but I have found a decent woman to do it. I am just going in to get touched up on the color and to get a trim. Nothing new and exciting. Sorry, I won't post any pictures. I am not comfortable with that yet.

So, I better get the coffee to go and get on the road. Hope you have a sassy Sunday!

Superb Saturday!

Good morning! I am headed off to work soon. I have my cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer and sweetener. Well, KU won last night. Josh is upset that Davidson won. They will be playing KU on Sunday. Josh is hoping this will not be a repeat of 2003, where Syracuse's one-man team upset KU. For my sake, I hope the game is a blow-out.

We had a great spread of food last night for the game. I decided not to actually cook. We bought frozen "game" food for the evening. We had pizza bagel bites, stuffed potato skins, spinach artichoke dip with garlic bread, chips with four kinds of dip, and french toast for dessert. There was enough sodium in that food to last me all week.

The kid went for a regular check-up. He is now 5 ft. 4 3/4 in. He weighs 120 lbs. Long and lanky. He has gained 13 pounds in the last 3 months and has only grown a half inch. His pediatrician said he is due for a major growth spurt. Great. The kid is already in a size 10 shoe.

Okay, I need to get going. Hope you have a superb Saturday!

Boys, Blogs, and Bad Officiating

It wasn't that productive of a day. I am in the computer room typing this post while Josh is watching the KU game. Bad officiating tonight. He keeps cussing at the t.v. I better stay in here and keep my nose out of the game.

It's funny, you know. Boys get so funny during football season or when their team is playing. I have learned to just keep quiet and stay away if they are losing. He would never admit it, but he is pretty bad during football season. hehehehe....

So, I put some different songs on my blog. I just love this song from John Mayer. I still need to watch the movie, but I will wait for it to come out on DVD. I don't like crying in theaters and I know that movie will probably have me bawling. Both actors are phenomenal, and the fact that they are in this movie together is totally awesome.

I was on MySpace today looking up old friends. Can you believe I can't remember half the people I went to high school with? Sad, but true. I don't keep in contact with any of them. I graduated from Great Bend High School in 1992. We thought we were invincible back then. We were fools. It's amazing how nothing stays the same after high school. I always knew I wouldn't stay there. My dreams were much too big then what that small town could offer me. I knew it way back then. I am glad I followed my heart.

Well, I am going to surf the net.

Caught Up

What's up? Just got back from running some errands. I dropped a gift basket off at the school of Josh's niece. Let's just say, the poor girl was speechless. I made a basket with all kinds of girly things in it. She was so excited. Who's the best aunt and uncle in the world? Uh, yeah! Was there any question?

So, dinner last night was really good. I made spaghetti and meat sauce. I added extra tomatoes and mushrooms to the sauce. The kid helped make dessert. We had strawberry shortcake and cheesecake ice cream with graham crackers. Yumm-O!!!

I am really enjoying this day off. I am mostly caught up with all of the blog reading and I am also caught up on my shows. Hope you are all having a great Friday!

Back To Normal

Well, I guess you could say things will get back to normal. I have so much reading to do. Luckily, I don't have to be at work today until after lunch and I only have to work a couple of hours. Then, I am off tomorrow! WooHoo!

I made myself an omelet this morning with sliced button mushrooms, chives, and shredded cheddar cheese. Yumm-O! The hazelnut coffee hit the spot as well. Ah, it's good to be back.

The walk-thru went extremely well. I got to meet some of Meloncutter's bosses. One v.p. in particular was a bald guy who was extremely interested in one of my departments. He explained to me that his division was getting a bistro that was similar and wanted to know my thoughts. I told him about all of the training that would need to happen and offered him to send his people my way when they get ready to open their own. So Melon, he was a pretty nice guy. Can't remember his name though. He was with his president.

Anyway, the visit went well. They spent most of their time in my departments, as this area is the powerhouse alley of the store. It was quite fun, but lots of hard work went into it.

Okay, so I better take off and start reading. It might actually take me two days to catch up.

Super Busy

I am sorry! I have been oh so super busy getting ready for this big walk through that is happening today. All of these presidents are here from other divisions and it's the biggest dog and pony show we have had yet. I have to get going, but will catch up with all of you later today.

I have no idea what is going on in your lives.

Crusty - thanks for the postcard!
Cheryl - AW!!!! You are so much fun! Thanks for the card.

Love, Peace, and Chicken Grease!!

Need To Get Busy

Good morning. We had a great time at my parents' house. I wasn't able to give my mom her gift. It is a nice picture of her and her two grandchildren. I am waiting on the frame. I will see her on Monday, so I can give it to her then.

I am behind on about three projects at work, so I need to get busy. I should be caught up after today. Deadlines are virtually impossible with these store visits going on. But that would be an excuse, so I won't go there. Well, at least not today.

The kid only has a few more days of freedom before he must go back to school. He has a mini geometry project due which should only take up about an hour of his time. I encouraged him to work on it some over at his dad's house today, but I know it probably won't happen. His dad is starting to get on my nerves. It's pretty sad when you only talk to your kid once in a six day stretch. I call my kid every day. Guess that's why he's with me.

Well, gotta get going. Have a great day!

Early Day

It's an early one this morning. Not my usual posting time, but I don't think many people pay attention to that.

We have a meeting this morning at our "model" store with the VPs. They are scheduled to arrive at 8:30. I am going in a little early to help the store get a head start. After that, I am heading home to get packed up and we are going to my mom and dad's. My mom's birthday is Thursday, and I am thinking we are going to get her a nice picture.

We should be home later Wednesday evening. I probably will not be able to post again until Thursday morning. Hope you all have an awesome day!

How Was Your Weekend?

I am listening to a conference call. Blah, blah, blah! Another boring day at work. Just checking in.

How was your weekend?

Long Day

Today was such a long day. Just when I think it will be a short one, something always comes up. This time, the boss decides to hang out in KC to watch the Big 12 Tournament. Did he bother to tell anyone? No. So a couple of us had to put out a couple of fires around the zone. Good thing I have an extra large extinguisher in my trunk.

I totally missed Phelan's barbecue. It's in celebration of Dan's birthday. Happy Birthday Dan! He's younger than me, I am sure. Such a baby still.

This evening I made an incredible meal. I sauteed some chicken breasts in the skillet, put them in a casserole dish, then smothered it with this awesome creamy chicken with wild rice and mushroom soup. I let it cook in the oven for another 30 minutes and served it with some potatoes. Uh, can you say Yumm-O? Quite tasty! It was perfect for the cool weather we had today. Highs were around 45. Not bad, but definitely not the 60 degree weather we have had either.

I think tomorrow may have to be a simple dinner and then a roast for Monday. Need to do some last minute shopping for some gemstone potatoes and organic baby carrots. I might try a leek in there also. May be very tasty that way. Wish you all could come to dinner on Monday.

My mom's birthday is coming up. What do you get a mother who has everything? Not sure yet what I am going to do. We shall see.

Okay, so I am getting ready for bed. Another Sunday daily grind tomorrow. Have a great night!

Happy Anniversary

Good morning. Well, Josh and I have now been together for three years today. Happy Anniversary to us! It's hard to believe it's been that long. We decided to date on the Ides of March, which means impending doom. Haha!

Not sure what the agenda is for today. I am suppose to be at a barbecue, but won't be able to go until later. I don't want to come too late though. I am waiting for Phelan to let me know. It's her barbecue. It should be fun. I do have to work today, so I better get to it. Joy.

Catching Up

I am just catching up on a few blogs this evening. Can I admit I am a little jealous of some of you? All in good fun, of course. Some of your weeks sounded like so much fun, unlike mine. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Well, I am off to tidy up the kitchen. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good Morning!

Good morning! Just a quick hello before I head off to work. I have got to brush my teeth! I almost forgot sitting here. Catch you all later!

Wonderful Weekend

Hey! I'm back and rested up. What a wonderful time! I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I am sure you can understand how a girl like myself can get all caught up in a weekend full of shopping and fun dining.

My trip started with leaving Wichita later than I anticipated. I didn't leave until about 3:15 pm. I wanted to be on the road by 2:30 since it's suppose to be a five hour drive. Anyway, I left a little later. Traffic was the usual. There are a couple of things I don't like about this trip. The drive from Salina to Concordia is always the longest leg of the journey for me. I also don't like all of the speed limit changes when you get into Nebraska. Also, you can only go 65 mph in Nebraska until you hit Interstate 80, which then automatically takes you up to 75mph.

So, as I am driving along, I am totally forgetting to take pictures. As soon as I got to York, Nebraska, I stopped at the drive-thru Starbucks and got a tall extra hot, cinnamon dulce latte with extra whip and a slice of pumpkin bread. It was a nice little treat with three hours of driving under my belt.

My next stop was in Lincoln, Nebraska where I met up with some friends to watch a high school basketball game. This particular team was battling it out for the championship game for the state. They won by a landslide and ended up being the state champs the next evening by one point. It was fun to watch. The game brought back so many memories.

From there, I headed into Omaha, arriving around 10:50 at night. I checked into the Marriott and headed for bed. I usually sleep really well at Marriott because their beds are freaking awesome! But, I kept tossing and turning. Not a very good night's rest. I woke up tired.

On Saturday, I met one of my friends, SD, for brunch. My other good friend, HD, came and we all enjoyed a great breakfast at Le Peep. I absolutely love this restaurant. If you are ever in Omaha, check it out. From there, we went shopping. It was so much fun being able to look at clothes, walk around talking and laughing. I kept thinking to myself, "This is what normal people get to do on their weekends off!" I took full advantage.

I bought the kid a full line of Nike gear for track. He is totally spoiled and I don't mind it at all. I bought three really cute shirts and a nice pair of black slacks. I was a little uneasy about the shirts because the style is something I normally would never think of wearing. But after trying on all of them, they actually looked really good. We shopped for about five hours.

I went back to my hotel for a nap. I was totally exhausted, but it was nice. I would rather be exhausted from shopping than from working. Duh! Anyway, I slept for about an hour. We met for a later dinner at nice little Italian restaurant downtown. I totally forgot the name, but I can show you exactly where it's at. Anyway, the food was delicious.

On Sunday, I gathered all of my things and checked out a couple of our stores in that area. I know, I shouldn't be working on my day off, but I really wasn't. I was just looking at them. I met my friends for another brunch at a different restaurant. This place makes everything from scratch. I wasn't in love with my omelet, but it was all pretty good. After brunch, I bought a loaf of pumpkin bread from their scratch bakery, said my good-byes, and then headed back to Wichita.

I got back just in time for the hockey game, which we lost. I then picked up the kid from his dad's and went home. It's so good to be back.

I feel rested up and needed that little bit of time for myself. I figured it was a gift for myself for working so hard. Speaking of work, I am working late today, so I better get off the computer and do some things around the house. I will try and catch up with all of you this evening. I have already put aside two hours to read blogs. Until then, have a wonderful day!

Omaha or Bust!

Lucky me! Today I am headed off to Omaha for the weekend. I am spending some down time with a couple of friends. It will be a weekend full of shopping, spas, great food, and great company. I booked my hotel at the Marriott and I am ready to have a great weekend! WooHoo!!!

Hope you all do the same. I am taking my camera with me and will be doing a photo journal of my trip. Have a great weekend!

Morning!

Morning! Busy day today. I have another luncheon to go to and my parents will be in town later this afternoon. We are going to try and have dinner with them at their favorite Chinese place. Funny, my mom is Korean, but she has a favorite place for Chinese buffet.

I am off to read your blogs now! Have a great day!

Ranting - Can you believe it?

I can't believe I am doing this, but I thought I would do another post this evening. I know, call me crazy. I am bored and I have caught up on all the many blogs I love.

Today was interesting. I had to speak to a department manager about relocating to a much smaller store. It's just not working out at this large store for him. It was tough. I was very positive and he left with a very good attitude. This made me realize the decision to keep him on board was a good one. I know he has potential and has room to grow. I am thankful he was okay with the transfer.

After that, I went to a luncheon at work. Several of us were honored for providing excellent customer service. I was nominated by our shrink department. The director presented me with an award and said some really nice things about me. It was kind of hard to hear it though, in front of my peers. I never did take compliments well.

The luncheon was over around 1:30, so I decided to head down the road to a competitor store where I know some of the employees. They walked me through their store and allowed me to take pictures. Thank goodness there is a nice relationship there or I would have been thrown out of the store. After leaving that store, I made my way back to the little city and decided to pick the kid up from school. It's not my turn, but I called his dad and let him know I wanted to surprise him. The kid surprised me himself with a great grade on his math test. With a couple of high fives, we decided to head home.

Ever since arriving home, we have been cleaning. I am just tired of seeing my house dirty. Josh and his brother spent all afternoon yesterday doing yard work. It looks fantastic. My job was the inside. So, the kid helped. He was in charge of his room and the living room. Easy enough.

Now, I am here. Typing away like there is no tomorrow.

I received several comments about one of my pictures - the one of Ground Zero. I know it still hurts for many to see the photo, but I wanted to post it anyway. It was a part of my experience in NYC and it means something special to me also. It's hard to believe they are still pulling up the wreckage.

Okay, looking at this new post I have created this evening, I have noticed it is much longer than I anticipated. That's what I get for ranting. Have a wonderful evening!

Respect

Work is starting to get to me. I am so sick of the drama. I guess it's normal though.

I am working later today. I have to attend a humanitarian dinner for the city. It is being held at one of the aircraft companies. I am making Josh go with me. Poor guy. Anyway, this dinner is usually really long. Dinner starts around 6:30 and the awards are handed out right after. It has been known to last until 9 pm sometimes. I hope tonight goes quickly.

The kid got into some trouble at school yesterday. He was sassing a teacher back and was sent to the Vice Principal's office. Lucky for me, I have a good relationship with him. We discussed what the kid said and what the punishment would be. The kid had to go and apologize to the teacher and then stay after school to do any chores necessary for that teacher. The teacher accepted the apology and left it at that. Too bad for the kid though. He came home and did extra chores and of course, got a lecture on respect. Teenagers! Aha! I can say that now.

I am really looking forward to ABC Photograph Wednesday tomorrow. I have some neat pictures for the letter G.

Hope you all have a great day!

Great Birthday Weekend

I had a great birthday weekend with my family. Thanks to Cheryl for the birthday card and Phelan for the wishes. It was a wonderful weekend and I totally enjoyed myself.

It promises to be a busy week again. Actually, the whole month will be busy. We have been informed that there will be a presidents' meeting held here at the new store. There are about eight presidents flying in to tour the new store and to venture out and look at our market. They won't be here until after Easter, so that gives us some time.

I just wanted to check in. I really don't have much to say this morning. I plan on visiting all of you by the end of the day. Lots of catching up to do. Have a great one!
