Rain On Me - What Happened To My Parade?

It has been raining all day. Right now we are going through a nice thunderstorm. Nothing too crazy, just a nice thunderstorm. I love days like these. Makes you want to curl up with a book and stay inside.

Work was weird today. I found out through the grapevine that someone is getting added into my zone to help me out a little bit. Now, normally I would be pissed because I would think the "suits" are thinking I can't handle it. But, with all that is going on and all of the remodels we have going on, I do need the help. I am only a little peeved. The reason is because they are trying to make a position for this person. She is stepping down from a management position and they don't want to use her as an "hourly associate". So, she is going to be doing some training in the zone. Problem is, the training she will be doing is something she couldn't even do in her own store. ??? Uh, yeah. Whatever.

Well, I need to go and start dinner. I hope the siding people actually show up with this thunderstorm. I will get back to all of you later on what we decide to do.

Cheryl asked me to post about grand opening week. What I did this past week was not for grand opening week at our new store. I was getting prepared to walk the district department heads through four departments within a store. I had to spend some time in this particular store to help get them ready. I mainly helped merchandise in these four departments.

The grand opening of the new store I was talking about previously won't happen until July 15. I have to turn in schedules now so the "suits" have an idea what to expect as far as help needs. We need a lot of help.

So, let's talk about something else. I am going to be getting new siding on this house. Right now we have ugly white. I am looking for any suggestions here. Terri just did her house and I really love the color. I wouldn't mind going that route. I also saw a pretty light gray color with burgandy brown windows. Does anyone have a clue? Cuz, I sure don't.

The kid is doing pretty well in school. He is still having some social issues with other kids. Trying to fit in can be so tough. He went to private school for so long and now he is in public school. It's a big change for a kid to go through. But, how do you tell a kid that it doesn't matter what happens in junior high and high school? That no one cares if you were popular or not? Kids don't understand that until they go through it. I know I had to learn it for myself.

It's good to be back. I apologize for not being consistent on my posts and when visiting your blogs. Have a great evening!

I'm Baaaaack!

Hooray! I am somewhat back to my normal schedule. I will hopefully be close to my blogging friends again. It sucked being away working for so long. The store walk was absolutely wonderful. It was picture perfect.

Post, post, post!!!

I am up late doing work on this new store we are remodeling. I have to turn in sales and hours for Grand opening week. woo.hoo...

Anyway, I am not updating daily until after Wednesday. I just can't do it all. I have come to realize I can't be everything to everyone. Meloncutter - Do you hear me? YOU can't be everything to everyone in the blasted company!! Take time to smell the daffodils.

I do hope everyone had a great weekend. Sorry I haven't been commenting regularly. I promise to get back in the routine once my Tuesday meeting is done and over with. Have a great couple of days!!

Okay. The blasted siding people never showed up to give us our estimates. I am looking at paying cash, so they totally missed out on a very good opportunity. Basta...

Moving along. It is cloudy today and it is breezy. Feels good outside. I am working on the ten loads of laundry I have to get done by this evening. Hooray.

Back to work tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it. We are having a lunch for my boss. It's her birthday. We are hoping she will have our bonus checks with her. I feel like spending some money. It will help me get out of this funky mood.

Well, I shall check in with all of you later. Good day...

So much for posting every day. I hate that it takes me forever to get caught up in the day. I was off today and I am off again tomorrow. This will give me some time to catch up with all of my favorites out there! Hope everyone is having a good week.

My kid is at the grandparents' house for spring break. I am meeting with some people tonight to get an estimate on siding for the house. Should be interesting. Anyway, I will update for sure later.

Slow Sunday

It was another gorgeous day here. I only worked from 9-4. Called it quits so I could watch the basketball tournament. I am rooting for Ohio State all of the way. Even though I am from Kansas, I will always be a Buckeye fan.

I also took a nap during the KU game. It wasn't that interesting. It was really sort of a blah day for me.

I am going to a meeting in the morning. My mom is in town for a doctor's visit. I am taking her home after the visit and my kid will be staying with her for spring break. We are suppose to be surprising her with tickets to Korea on Saturday, but I don't know if my siblings will have their part of the money. I will probably have to cover them. Oh well. I am almost thinking about postponing the whole thing. Her birthday is on the 20th, but we are going to celebrate on Saturday so her Korean friends can come over. One thing to look forward to is Korean food. Hooray! Josh is going to cut her bulgogi meat that she needs. Good thing Josh is a good meat cutter.

Well, I am off to bed. I just drank two cups of coffee, so we shall see if sleep will come easy. I am sure it won't. Till tomorrow!

I saw these guys when I was at a store today. I was sitting in my car when I took the picture. Thinking to myself, what a great way for a dad to spend time with his kid. The excitement of being on the back of that motorcycle when you are young is invigorating. I have never been on one, but it looks like so much fun. When I saw these guys, I immediately thought of Phelan and her family. I recall her telling me about a cookout they were having today. Wish I could have gone and met her. It would have been fun. Her blog is one I read on a daily basis. We live in the same vicinity, yet I have never met her. I may have run into her a time of two and would have never know it. Small world, isn't it?

Anyway, the weather was gorgeous today. It got into the 70's. Warm and breezy with lots of sunshine. I wish it were like this year round. I love spring and fall. But You Can't See Me

Okay, So I have never been comfortable putting pictures of myself on my blog. I want as much privacy as I can get because of the job I have. I am also very sensitive to what people say. I rarely let people take pictures of me. I am trying to change that.
I was able to find the clothes I bought by going to the business' website. The dress to the left is suppose to be a dark brown, not black. The dress above left I have not worn yet. I am waiting for it to warm up just a bit. And the jacket/skirt ensemble to the far right I am saving for a special occasion.
I bought lots of other stuff to, but I won't show you the pictures. I bought two short sleeve sweater sets, some more pretty camisoles to wear under my business jackets. I just bought these cute pair of pants that are a creamy beige and they have big cuffs on the bottom. Too cute! Let's just say I love to shop. I just don't like shopping by myself. I don't have many girlfriends to take shopping. It sucks.

As you have been able to tell, I have been gone for some time. Sorry. I have had to work three - twelve hour days in a row and I finally have a day off today. We have a big visit coming from the "mothership" and so it's been kind of hectic lately.
I am so happy to report that Professor is back to blogging. He is down every day, but he is here. Time heals all wounds.
I am going to clean the bathroom from top to bottom today, do about ten loads of laundry (I am not kidding), and drop off a bunch of dry cleaning. I guess I will catch up with all of you later. I promise not to wait so long to post again. Have a super day!

Tired This Evening

Today was a long day. I am going to bed early. I have to go to the division office tomorrow for a meeting. woohoo. I am planning on wearing one of the new suits I bought at Dillards during their huge sale. Can't wait. I will be stylin' and profilin' at the meeting. Divas - eat your hearts out.

Guilty

I have been pretty busy lately. I am trying to cut back a little on the computer. My kid made a comment to me last week about always being on here. Yes, I felt the pang of guilt in my side. It made me feel bad. But alas, my kid is at his dad's house this weekend, so I can be on here to my heart's content. I have so much catching up to do. I apologize to all if I haven't been faithfully reading. I do love to stop by and comment as much as possible.

I am on my way to do some more training this morning. It should be a fairly productive day. Catch ya later...

True Intentions

I wanted to post more than once yesterday, totally my intentions. But, as you can see, that didn't happen. Too busy!! I was able to get the kitchen looking decent though. I cooked last night and made the "every one's mom made this when they were little" pork chop and potato casserole. You know the one I am talking about. Pork chops that are browned on the skillet first, then put into the oven with sliced potatoes and cream of mushroom. I like to kick mine up a notch by adding some onion and chives. My kid had a field day. Ever notice how kids smother everything in ketchup? I can't believe I ever did that as a child, but I'm sure I did.

It's about 5:30 am and I am up with the Meloncutter. He always gets up super early. If you want to roll with the big dogs, you got to get up early. That's what one of my managers used to say when I was a department head way back.

Anyway, I have a long day ahead of me. I will be at our future "Market place" store by six thirty. I am making sure we look good. The top three will be in the zone today for a retirement party of one of our managers. He has been with the company for 36 years. Whew! His last day is tomorrow. Then, I have to be at a store tonight around 9 pm to help out. Ugh. The life of a zonie.

So, I will get off to catch up on some of my favorites out there before I have to leave. Till' later...

One Of Many Posts For Today

I am off today, but I have a million things to do around the house. I still have a couple of boxes to unpack. I also need to get all of my things organized. We are having Josh's family over for Easter. This will be the first time anyone has been over since we moved in. Got to make a good impression, you know? I am still debating on the menu for that day. Looks like the meat items are going to be a spiral ham and a brisket. We are contemplating on grilling out that day. Who knows, I still have plenty of time before I have to really worry about it. Be back later...

Later...

Well, I am up and at em' early this morning. Gotta be at work at 5. With that, I will chat with all of you later...

Love the Blogs, Just Can't Seem To Link

Well, it's been sort of crazy the past two days. I just wanted all of you to know that I have added several more blogs to the right. These are a list of blogs that I check in with daily. Sometimes, I know not to check in because everyone updates during specific times. One blog I really enjoy is Corky's log. He's a totally cool guy with a newbie on the way. He has some of the same interests as me, although I would never admit what (wink, wink). Another goodie would be Rich at Championable. I found him through Beck at This Journey. Totally loving all of the additions I have found. Can't seem to figure out how to link everyone so that you can just click on their names from this post. Any words of wisdom to a hopeless computer owner?

Strange

Well, I am back. I was asked to talk about the strangest part of my trip. It turns out I had a couple strange parts to my trip. The one I will talk about on this post places us at the hotel meeting room. Our advisory panel are talking about their year and I was out in the hall talking to another co-worker. We were talking about how these were a waste of time for us and how it was more for the advisory panel. Since we are their bosses, we had to sit in and listen to it all. Anyway, my boss comes out of the meeting room and asks to meet with all of us, leaving her assistant to run the show. We head out and sit in the front eating area of the hotel. She sits down and says she has an announcement. She announces that she has just accepted a position in Cincinnati. It is the same position she holds now, but for a larger division. The Cincinnati division is at least twice as big as ours. I was really sad. I was also crying. All of my projects for this year looked out of reach for a moment. After I gained my composure, I thought about it some more and just decided that we are going to do just fine. I can do it without her. It's what I was meant to do. This will put me more into the spotlight and maybe perhaps one day, I will get a promotion as well. I don't plan on staying in Kansas forever. I wouldn't mind moving back to Ohio and even down South. I think it would be great. So, the rest of the time we were all there was pretty much a waste of company time. She rented a car and did a ton of shopping on company time. But, when you make what she does and are in the position she is in, you can get away with it, I guess.

So, there you have it. I am back for awhile. I have a million things to get done at home. I will try and catch up with everyone by this evening. Good day!
