Till' Thursday

Just wanted to remind everyone that I am planning to be gone until late Thursday night. I will try my best to catch up on every one's blog while I am gone. However, I am not making any promises.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. You have all become very special people to me. I never thought I would be so close to people I could meet online. Well, good night...

Full Day Of Getting Nothing Done

Okay, so the day consisted of me pretty much doing nothing. Well, actually I didn't get anything accomplished. I started the day taking my kid to school. He has a social studies test coming up on Wednesday. He is struggling a bit in that class. I then went on to a store in one of the small towns which is pretty much hooked on to ours. I took a conference call there and walked the store. I then headed to our future marketplace store. I went in to see all of the changes that have happened so far. The store manager talked to me and wanted me to come back with one of the directors to go over some construction moves. It's going to get ugly in there.

I ate lunch in my car, which consisted of a chicken dinner. By the time I got to my next store, I was ready for a nap. But, no. I went in and talked to the store manager about promoting his deli second to a deli manager in one of our other stores down the street. The girl gladly accepted the position, which I figured she would. She said the money would come in handy.

I came home for "lunch". Actually, I came home to kill some time. After about an hour, I headed over to the west side and picked up some product from one store and took it to another small store located in a smaller town close by. I got a call from the director (deli/bakery) and had to head back to the remodel store. We walked the store with the same manager and I told them I had to get out of there.

I had to go back to the west side to pick up my dry cleaning for my trip this week. Total miles on my car today - 112. yep, it sucks.

Tomorrow will consist of a dull, dry, boring meeting with the pres and vps. Every zone will be there with all DMs and zone specialists and the department directors will be there as well.

can't wait.
can you sense my enthusiasm?
booooooring...

Lunch Break

Hey you guys! Yesterday was a blast. I spent the whole time with my kid. We had a wonderful day of mom and son time. Loved it. I was pretty tired when I got home so I didn't have time to post anything. I am on a lunch break right now so this one will be held short.

I am leaving Wednesday morning for my business trip. I will try and post while I am away, but will try and read up on everyone else first. I promise to get pictures of where I am, even though it is all for work. Catch you all later this evening...

I Need A Favor, Please.

Well, thanks to all that posted a comment. I need a favor though. If you have a chance to do so, stop by the Frumpy Professor and send some words of encouragement his way. He is one of my favorites and I feel so bad knowing that he is hurting. You can get to his blog through the link on the right hand side. I would appreciate it so much. Thanks!

On to other news, I finished cleaning my apartment today. WooHoo! I am done!

Also, I am having to go to Columbus, Ohio for business on January 31 thru February 2. We are going through some training up there for our bistro which will be featured in one of our new stores. I am also going to Seattle, Washington on February 6 thru February 8. We are sending our chefs to training and we have to attend part of that training. I dread the flying part of all this. I get sick on the planes. I have never thrown up, but I do get that dizzy head feeling. What I also dislike is sitting next to someone who falls asleep and puts there head on your seat. If I haven't told you guys yet, I do not like it when someone is that close. I'm a slight germ-a-phobe. Can't help it. If you went through all of the food safety classes I have been through, you would understand why. Ugh!

I am excited to go to Seattle though. I have never been to the west coast before. The farthest west I have been is Las Vegas. I am ecstatic! It's going to be a great experience for me. One of the VPs up there used to be a deli director for our division. I remember her when I was an hourly associate working in one of our stores. We hit it off great. Perhaps she will remember me. I would love to see her again. Hopefully I will get the chance.

Okay, so the post is a little bit longer tonight. Again, if you could stop by the blog I noted above, I would really appreciate it. You guys are so great with leaving such wonderful comments on my blog, I think that Pipe would enjoy some new readers as well. I know that Andrew from 4th Avenue Blues would agree with me. Thanks again people!

Blog Addict - Yes, I Need Help

Got two miles in today. The Y has a lot of cool free exercise activities that I am thinking about joining. Of course, one must have time for all of those extra curricular activities. We shall see.

I have been reading up on everyone. There are a total of 25 blogs that I read daily. Thank goodness not everyone posts daily or I would be in some serious trouble. Of course, there are some I am addicted to. It's like drinking a cup of coffee each morning or reading the newspaper every day. Some people just can't get through their day without it. Know what I mean?

Maybe I am an addict. What do you think?

Loungin'

Hooray! I am off today and tomorrow. I am doing nothing but lounging and going to the YMCA. Tomorrow, I am going to my apartment to finish cleaning it. I don't have much to do. A final vacuum and I want to make sure the floor under the frig and oven are clean. That's where they always get you. Anyway, it's going to be a fantastic two days!

Catch you all later this evening.

Winter Pictures

Okay, here are some of the pictures I promised. Note that we received all of this on Sunday. Today is Wednesday and the white stuff isn't going anywhere.

Now, you will need to click on the photos to get a better picture. The first two pictures are what my drive looks like when I go to the corporate office in Hutch. This was on the way home today.

These next pictures are of my neighborhood from the driveway and front porch. Yes, that is a peach colored house. Gotta love Kansas.

Hooray!

Hoooooray, hooray, hooray hooray! I found my camera! It was in my old apartment on top of the refrigerator. I didn't pack it. I had Josh go back and get the odds and ends that were in some of the drawers and he saw it on top of the frig. Hooray! I will be taking pictures tomorrow.

The good thing that came out of this - I only have five more boxes to go. I was searching intensely for that blasted camera that I went through eleven boxes in a day and a half. Yeah!

It's late. I will post some pics tomorrow. Night!!

Not much to post today. I am almost done unpacking. Thank goodness.

Today WAS a Great Day!!!

Okay, so today was a GREAT day. I went into one of my stores and was talking to a department head. I have noticed the considerable changes she has made in her department. I then told her that I noticed all of the hard work she has put in to turn the department around (it was in pretty bad shape several months ago). I then decided to recognize her at an associate luncheon we are having in February. Why not? Heck, she has done an outstanding job. This particular manager was on the verge of being demoted. After a little heart-to-heart three months ago, she has proven everyone wrong. She CAN run a great department.

I came home and unpacked four more boxes (please note that I have about 20 boxes to go through). I have not found my camera yet. It's driving me absolutely bonkers! I will have to go through at least two boxes a day. That way, I should be done by the next snow storm. Did I mention that we are suppose to get more snow next Monday and Tuesday? Yes. We already received eight inches yesterday. Hooray for Old Man Winter!

Today Is Going To Be A Great Day!

Today is going to be a GREAT day! Why? Because my friend Andrew at 4th Avenue Blues has made me look at life a little differently. Today, I am going to smile at every person I see. I am going to compliment as many people as I can today. Today, I want to be able to change some one's bad mood to a more positive one. So, watch out world because I am a positive force to be reckoned with today.

I'll let you know how it goes later...

Watch Our World!

I can't seem to remember where I packed my camera. It has been snowing all day and I wanted to catch a glimpse of it for all of you. I will search for it this evening and try for a morning picture.

We did not go to bingo last night and I was sadly disappointed. My kid's dad did not let me know I had to reserve bingo cards in order to go. Needless to say, I was pretty hot. I yelled at him and he apologized. Ugh.

I am on a break from the kitchen. I am trying to sort things out. It's very hard because the whole entire house was left in poor condition and there was much left behind. I am sorting through everything slowly.

In my apartment everything was electric. I love the gas stove in this house. At first I wanted to get rid of it, but now I think I will keep it around for awhile. I have not tried to bake anything in it yet, but I hope to get a chance by next week.

Let me tell you a little bit about one of my co-workers. She has a different zone than I do. She lives in Omaha, Nebraska and is a riot! I shall call her "Havoc". Havoc creates just that, havoc. She goes with the flow, but always watches her back. There are several people at work we don't trust. I think some of those people are out to get her, but that's just us scheming. Anyway, Havoc is a single mom like myself. She is short, thick, and has blond hair. She is totally German and I think she is hilarious. We call each other constantly and talk about work all of the time. Many people have tried to warn me about getting too close, but what do they know? I mean, look at the company we work for. There are backstabbers everywhere. So, we get together on the phone to talk about the latest flavor of the month at work. We constantly joke about others, at their expense of course. I know it's not nice, but if you only knew some of these people. It's shallow and I don't really care. I'm human and half Korean. Put me with a German gal pal and watch out world!

Good Morning

Went to Weight Watchers yesterday to weigh in. I lost one pound, so I went to Outback Steakhouse last night to celebrate. hehehe...

I am wide awake this morning, thank goodness. I couldn't stop yawning yesterday. Josh is off today so he should be able to get my honey-do list done today. One of those is to buy some area rugs for the cold wood floors. My toesies get so cold when I walk on the floor. I know that it will be nice to have in the summer, but I am not liking it now.

I did my change of address. It should reroute in a couple of days. I usually forget this step when moving, but I remembered it this time because I made a list of "things to do" a couple of weeks before moving.

Today is Friday and the kid wants to go to Bingo night at the school. Uh, yeah. I will have to go with him, since his dad won't. It will probably be a lot of fun.

Lots to do today, so I better get after it.

Work was easy. The construction meeting took forever.

There is nothing on TV, so I am going to start some unpacking. Till' tomorrow...

Catching Up

Well, I went into the store yesterday and there was no sign of the store manager. Too bad. Today I have to give a small presentation to some people in one of our smaller stores. It's about our company and community service. Should be easy. I don't have problems getting up in front of people and talking.

There is still plenty of ice and "snow" on the ground. I just can't wait for it to melt. I have to walk carefully with the shoes I wear or you could find me sitting on my rear.

We are slowly unpacking and getting things situated. Now that I have time, it's taking longer than expected. It happens.

I heard yesterday that bonus checks will be issued in March. It's going to be a good year. I will be able to plan for a trip to New York City. I have never been there and I want to see so much. I am still headed to Columbus and Seattle in a couple of weeks. Traveling is something to get used to for this year. I hate to fly.

Okay, so I better get out the door. I have a conference call this morning and a construction meeting at our market place store. Good day to all.

A Rusty Platter May Be In My Future

My work trip to KC was cancelled due to weather. Thank you Mother Nature! Although the trip would have been a fun one, I was not looking forward to driving my whole entire advisory panel up there. Three and a half hours in an SUV with five other women is enough to make me go mad. I enjoy driving alone and prefer going by myself to whatever destinations. It would have been hard to do, that's all.

I have to review some store numbers tomorrow. Ugh, I don't care for this part of the job either. It usually consists of me sitting on my ass in front of the computer for about five hours. Boooring!

One of my bosses pissed off a store manager to the highest level possible by telling her the store was flawless WITH the exception of one of her departments. Now, normally one would not get mad to such constructive feedback, if you will allow me to call it that. But, the boss told this store manager the reason the department was in poor shape was because of lack of management involvement.

Uh, yeah. Wrong thing to say!

Of course, I was copied on this email that was sent. I am suppose to go into this particular store tomorrow and am not looking forward to it. Hopefully, I won't get my ass handed to me on a rusty platter.

Three Days of Pleasant Weather - Stop the Insanity

The past three days have been wonderful. The weather has been horrible, but I have been off from work. I am sitting at my desk, looking out of the window to freezing rain. Lovely. There must be something good about freezing rain pellets, right? No, can't think of any.

I am suppose to go to a baby shower today. I have to go because I am bringing the cake. It is close to my apartment, but quite a distance from the house I am living in now. Joy.

Well, I guess I better get going. I have gift cards I have to buy yet and I still need to pick up the cake. I will post later if time allows.

We're In

I just realized that I am at the #202 post mark. Didn't even realize it. Anyway, we are moved in. We still have a couple of odds and ends at my apartment, but I have the rest of the month to get that out, plus clean it from top to bottom.

There were a bunch of wrecks on Kellogg (Highway 54). Crazy people not going the speed limit and not watching out for other cars. I saw two wrecks happen. One was in front of us and one was behind us. I hope those people were okay because I could not stop to help them.

We are expected to get more crappy weather tomorrow and even later in the week. Our stores are still up and running, but trucks are running late. I heard that one of the stores in Missouri has been without power since 8:30 last night. That sucks.

Well, gotta go get started on the long process of unpacking. It's going to take weeks. I have to clean stuff before I unpack. The house did not get cleaned by Josh's sister before she left. Seeing my previous post about the duel with the refrigerator, you can imagine what the rest of the house was like.

Till' later...
I am getting ready to disconnect the computer. It is a miserable day with freezing rain. What a day...

I'm Still Here

Hey, I am still here. I haven't dropped off the face of the earth just yet. I am, however, in moving hell. I have everything packed. It's just a matter of getting everything organized. We are moving everything tomorrow.
Did I mention that it is spitting freezing rain and snow right now? Groovy.

I'll get back with all of you later. The computer is the last thing I am taking out of the apartment. There may be another day when you won't hear from me. Wish me luck. Have a great day!!

Put Me Out Of My Misery, Please!

My apartment is a freakin' mess. What a disaster. It's like a Kansas tornado went through. We are expected to get freezing rain on Saturday, but apparently, that won't be stopping the moving process. Will someone put me out of my misery, please?

To make matters worse, I found out today that I have to be in Cincinatti, Ohio for business on February 1 and then I have to travel to Seattle, Washington on the 6th. So much for getting my house in order. At this rate, I will be able to have company over for Easter and not a moment sooner.

Don't you just love life? When one obstacle is triumphed, another comes prancing my way. Wonderful.

My goodness, what is up with the blogger spellcheck? It's totally suckin' tonight.

Tuesday, January 09, 2007

The frig was so gross that I couldn't even clean it out. Josh had to do it. Ugh. I'm keeping this post short because I am really tired. Hope you all had a great evening.

Gross

Well, I am off to the other house to do some cleaning. I volunteered to clean out the frig. Gross. I figured I better eat dinner BEFORE I accomplish that task. Josh's sister and her three boys lived in that house for a year. They didn't exactly keep it spotless. Josh let them live there while he lived with me, and now I will reap the rewards. Reap and puke. Ugh. Wish me luck. I will try and get a picture of it to show you how truly disgusting it is. Till later...

Monday, January 08, 2007

BooHoo

Well, my precious Ohio State University Buckeyes are getting their butts kicked by Florida. Ugh. I can't watch anymore. I would rather just wake up tomorrow and smell the roses.

I heard that some stormy weather is coming our way once again. Possible chance of snow this weekend. Guess who is moving this weekend? Yep, that's right. Luckily, I have two more days off later in the month just in case I can't do anything this weekend.

I am heading towards bed. I haven't stayed up this long for awhile and I am really tired. Good night and I will talk to you all tomorrow.

Resolutions

Okay, so a week has past. Do you still have your resolutions for the new year? I do. I have decided to start Weight Watchers, as there are several pounds I would like to lose. I am one of those people who have to check in with someone in order to do it. Sounds funny, I know. That is just what works for me.
I had my kid Friday, Saturday, and this morning. I just returned from taking him over to where his dad is at (the dreaded aunt's house). I won't see him again until tomorrow when I actually get to pick him up from school. It will be a treat for both of us.
I am finding balance between work and home. The problem is that when I am at home, I get bored and then get on the computer. I need a hobby. Not really though. In a few days I will be finishing up on the packing and actually move myself out of this apartment.
So with that, I should get to work on more organizing and packing. Talk to you all later...

Saturday, January 06, 2007

Looking back at my previous post, I forgot to mention that the plate was Josh's. He wanted me to tell everyone so you could see what he had for dinner. My kid had a chicken leg, potatoes, and carrots. He's not a big fan of asparagus.

Dinner

Well, dinner took longer than I anticipated. The chicken I bought was bigger than I gave it credit for.
I had to cook it an extra 30 minutes before it was done, therefore all of the sides had to be warmed up. Oh well, it still tasted good. We also had mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and asparagus. It was a good meal. The last supper until we move out of the apartment. We will probably live on sandwiches and easy-to-fix dinners until the end of the month. Oh well.
It's back to work tomorrow, but I am looking forward to starting on my new projects. I will be resetting some stores in certain departments. I really want to build a better relationship with all of the department managers. They are the backbone of the stores.
One department head in particular is a deli manager. She reminds me of myself when I was "growing up" with the company. She is immature and has a mouth and temper. Hopefully, she will be able to learn to control that. It took me a long time to figure out how to be professional and how to be a "green" leader.
Well, I am going to read up and see if anyone has updated since the last time I checked in. Hope everyone had a great day. Good night.

Off To The Store

Well, I am off to the store. No, not to work. To be a customer! I need to get some things for dinner and some light bulbs. I am packing up most of my kitchen after today's meal, so I want to make it kind of special. We will be using limited pots and pans along with the microwave after this evening. Macaroni and cheese every night. Just kidding. Well, gotta run. The kid is eyeballing the Playstation. If he gets on, there is no getting off. See ya!

Saturday Cartoons

I woke up right at nine. I also woke up three times during the night. Just knowing I didn't have to work today let me fall right back to sleep though.

Okay, so my kid is watching cartoons. I must say cartoons are not the same as they used to be. I don't remember RobotBoy, SpongeBob SquarePants, or Kids Next Door. I do remember the Smurfs, Thundercats, Strawberry Shortcake, Loony Tunes, and Transformers. I have a little brother, so that is why I know what some of the more boyish cartoons are. It's just funny how much they have changed over the years.

Well, this definitely will not be the only post for today. I am cooking tonight and I am going to post a picture of dinner. Should be nice. Talk to you all later...

Friday, January 05, 2007

Guess What?

I get to sleep in tomorrow! Yeah!! I am off and I am sleepin' in people! I have already told my kid to not even think about waking me up until after nine. Ah, a whole day off. Well, sort of. I have to get some packing done so I can be out of my apartment by the end of the month. Till' later my friends!

Thursday, January 04, 2007

WooHoo!! I am done. The visit was successful.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Sorry I haven't posted. I have been in my stores getting them ready for the senior vice president of our parent company. She is someone extremely important. Let's just say today's visits went well and we have more tomorrow. I will be up at 4 am once again to lead two teams of people. They did a great job today.

I won't be saying much tonight, but will have more for you tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Monday, January 01, 2007

Hey! I am off to Josh's side of the family Christmas party. I just have to swing by and pick up the kid and then head over. My contribution to the party is garlic mashed potatoes and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Well, gotta run to have some fun...

My New Year Resolutions

Good morning! I thought I would do a quick post. I went to bed around 10:30 last night so I missed bringing in the new year. I laid awake for a couple of hours, wondering about some of my online friends. Andrew from 4th avenue blues is a dear friend that I worry about sometimes. And I recently found out that one of my favorite blogs is no more. Mr. Mystic has left the blogging world. That really sucks. I loved his blog.

Anyway, I said I would give my resolutions. I never make resolutions I cannot reach. This may be the year that doesn't happen. There are only a few.

1. Spend more quality time with my kid.
2. Live a healthier lifestyle.
3. Find a good balance between work and home.

That's it. I know it sounds very vague, but I know the meaning behind what I am wanting to accomplish. That's all that really matters.

Well, I am off to work, but so I don't break Resolution #3, I am leaving early today. I won't work past 3. 9 to 3 isn't bad.

Good day!
