Fall

The dim light of the sun trickles in between the blinds. I can hear the soft motor of the 2 seater airplane flying over. Shadows grow longer as the time passes into dusk. Soon, the smells of fall will say goodbye, new smells of winter will announce themselves. I think about the smell of wood burning fireplaces and the warm glow of lights seen on each little house I will pass by in my car, heading home from a long day at work. My favorite season, fall, is present in full array. Beautiful orange, gold, red and copper leaves blanket the trees, only to fall and accumulate into huge mounds in every yard. The cold, wet air welcomes you in the afternoon, your couch beckoning you to curl up to enjoy a fine read.

I just love fall.

Beautiful post Abbagirl. Beautiful. Fall is growing on me. My favorite season has always been spring, but Fall is a close second. Take care, sweetheart. I hope you didn't work too hard yesterday.

Fall has ALWAYS been my favorite season! Cold enough to wear a sweater... warm enough not to wear a winter coat! The colours... the smells... and "yes" the warm outdoor fires.

Thanks for the memories!

Dave

You painted such a wonderful picture with your words. It made me want to be the one on the sofa with the fire. Every time I try to light mine, the house fills with smoke. Yes, the flue is open :(

Tomorrow should find me raking leaves. There's so many!

Very nice! I like fall, but early Winter is my absolute favorite. Enjoy.

very nice post. Nice images you've given through your words.

Fall has always been my favorite...I used to joke that it was because that's when my birthday is, but it's really those days when the leaves have turned and they look lit from within against the impossibly blue sky.

I like autumn too. It's a lot cooler than summer, which I like. L.A. doesn't have really distinct seasons unfortunately.

Nice prose.
