Wonderful Weekend

Hey! I'm back and rested up. What a wonderful time! I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I am sure you can understand how a girl like myself can get all caught up in a weekend full of shopping and fun dining.

My trip started with leaving Wichita later than I anticipated. I didn't leave until about 3:15 pm. I wanted to be on the road by 2:30 since it's suppose to be a five hour drive. Anyway, I left a little later. Traffic was the usual. There are a couple of things I don't like about this trip. The drive from Salina to Concordia is always the longest leg of the journey for me. I also don't like all of the speed limit changes when you get into Nebraska. Also, you can only go 65 mph in Nebraska until you hit Interstate 80, which then automatically takes you up to 75mph.

So, as I am driving along, I am totally forgetting to take pictures. As soon as I got to York, Nebraska, I stopped at the drive-thru Starbucks and got a tall extra hot, cinnamon dulce latte with extra whip and a slice of pumpkin bread. It was a nice little treat with three hours of driving under my belt.

My next stop was in Lincoln, Nebraska where I met up with some friends to watch a high school basketball game. This particular team was battling it out for the championship game for the state. They won by a landslide and ended up being the state champs the next evening by one point. It was fun to watch. The game brought back so many memories.

From there, I headed into Omaha, arriving around 10:50 at night. I checked into the Marriott and headed for bed. I usually sleep really well at Marriott because their beds are freaking awesome! But, I kept tossing and turning. Not a very good night's rest. I woke up tired.

On Saturday, I met one of my friends, SD, for brunch. My other good friend, HD, came and we all enjoyed a great breakfast at Le Peep. I absolutely love this restaurant. If you are ever in Omaha, check it out. From there, we went shopping. It was so much fun being able to look at clothes, walk around talking and laughing. I kept thinking to myself, "This is what normal people get to do on their weekends off!" I took full advantage.

I bought the kid a full line of Nike gear for track. He is totally spoiled and I don't mind it at all. I bought three really cute shirts and a nice pair of black slacks. I was a little uneasy about the shirts because the style is something I normally would never think of wearing. But after trying on all of them, they actually looked really good. We shopped for about five hours.

I went back to my hotel for a nap. I was totally exhausted, but it was nice. I would rather be exhausted from shopping than from working. Duh! Anyway, I slept for about an hour. We met for a later dinner at nice little Italian restaurant downtown. I totally forgot the name, but I can show you exactly where it's at. Anyway, the food was delicious.

On Sunday, I gathered all of my things and checked out a couple of our stores in that area. I know, I shouldn't be working on my day off, but I really wasn't. I was just looking at them. I met my friends for another brunch at a different restaurant. This place makes everything from scratch. I wasn't in love with my omelet, but it was all pretty good. After brunch, I bought a loaf of pumpkin bread from their scratch bakery, said my good-byes, and then headed back to Wichita.

I got back just in time for the hockey game, which we lost. I then picked up the kid from his dad's and went home. It's so good to be back.

I feel rested up and needed that little bit of time for myself. I figured it was a gift for myself for working so hard. Speaking of work, I am working late today, so I better get off the computer and do some things around the house. I will try and catch up with all of you this evening. I have already put aside two hours to read blogs. Until then, have a wonderful day!

I am so envious of your wonderful weekend. It sounds like a mini vacation! We don't have any 75 mph limits here. That's FAST. Tops is 65. You would love Jessica, cuz she is a pumpkin bread hound. I love that you stopped in for a bball game. It is so much fun to watch. And then all that shopping....that's over the top. I'd be ready for a chauffer to drive me home.
